About this deal

They do require some running in before they perform at their best, but after a few hours of play your music's high frequencies sound crisp and fresh, while bass notes display dexterity and discipline. However, despite everything now becoming wireless, you’d be surprised how popular the trusty wired headphone is. This is done in two ways: firstly, we ask our five member expert listening panel to note how much sound they can hear while the headphones are playing next to them.

Product review: Sennheiser CX300S In Ear Headphones Product review: Sennheiser CX300S In Ear Headphones

On the sennhiser cx-300-II I noticed the treble is now more defined and detailed, seperation between instruments are better (more airy), bass tighter, voices are more warm and natural and detailed than the old cx-300. Like the lows and mids, the highs abound with detail, and it’s all too easy to get lost in your favorite music with this tiny earphone. However, they’re very bass-heavy, so only really for casual listening unless you’re seriously into low frequencies. This can be avoided by having a longer earpiece that gives more room for the tip to reach into your ear without the cable fouling against your earlobe, but a much easier solution is to angle the earpiece to more accurately match the angle of the canal itself, as done here.Remember I am not comparing the cx-300-ii to a high end model, I'm comparing it to the old model cx-300 - my friend has the old model. We rate sound quality using a professional panel of five expert listeners with a range of ages and musical tastes. We settled on the largest ones, but the fit was never as secure as we've achieved with other in-ear phones, and a slight tug on the CX 300's cables would dislodge the earpiece from the ear.

They're lightweight, have in-line controls, and Sennheiser claims they offer 'amazingly detailed sound reproduction and enhanced bass response'. In the box you get a little carry case which includes space for a spare set of earpiece tips, and there are four different sizes of tip to choose from. Denon PerL earbuds redefine personalised sound We all hear differently, so we shouldn’t all listen the same. These Sennheisers, then, fit in totally effortlessly, providing an instant and utterly comfortable seal with the default medium-size eartips. We tested the black version, which has a suitably understated style, although versions with white or red cables and earpiece accents are available, too.Of course, the debate over whether a straight or angled plug is better rages on, and we aren’t going to get involved. All too often these sort of in-canal earphones, where the rubber earpiece tips sit in and seal against the outer edge of your ear canal, are scuppered by not reaching far enough into the ear to get a good seal – at least, not without being pushed uncomfortably far in. The cable lengths for each ear are identical and there’s a little sliding woggle for tightening the cables up under your chin – like all the cool kids do nowadays. Sure, if you wanted something to take your head off then these might not be for you, but if you want a massive upgrade on your standard in-ear headphones and don’t want to pay the earth, then these little babies might just do the trick.
