We have so many of these types of books but these are the ones she loved the most and that I thought were great books for 1 year olds. It’s best to look for books with the thicker pages so they can be a little rougher with them without damaging the book. Reread their favorites (as if you have a choice) and pause to let them finish the sentence or say the wrong word on purpose and see if they correct you. Repetition is key to not only introducing a range of words to your baby, but also making them stick and helping baby to understand the meaning. The story sends a message to young children that even if parents have gone away for a short while, they will come back. I don’t know what it is but she likes reading about babies and what they do which probably mirrors a lot of what she does.If you can make reading a part of their routine right from day one, and make it fun, then you’ll find it much easier to keep them engaged in reading for school.

These books will form part of their cherished childhood memories, and it’s so wonderful to be able to share that with your baby. This book is full of little activities to strengthen fine motor skills and sound bites that teach science, letters, and numbers. I loved watching her explore and enjoy books as a baby but once she turned one it was like her love for books just exploded and it’s been such a fun journey.We appreciate the teether corner and the fact that this is washable, and also love that it’s easy to pack up when heading out. It took me forever but she kept saying “ubba bubba” and I realized she was asking me to read the book or sing the song. Kids will love the bright illustrations of the caterpillar and the various food items he chomps his way through and the holes in the page making the story leap off the page. Because of that I always tried to get board book editions of books if possible because she tended to accidentally rip pages when she was turning them and otherwise be rough with them. It’s for kids, but that doesn’t mean we can’t secretly enjoy it too – it’s a massive hit with BabyCentre parents.
