About this deal

And there are times when Anna is directly describing something through speech and I just can't imagine an actual person sat there spewing those metaphors out loud. Young women who see themselves in this story will feel less alone and take courage and strength from it. It started so good and slowly turned into something strange, messy and URO (unidentified reading object)! i found it really interesting to learn in laura bates acknowledgements that maggie was actually a real person.

Laura Bates | Waterstones Fix the System, Not the Women by Laura Bates | Waterstones

Anna was drawn to Robin, a boy in one of her class, but I love how the story didn't center around their love interest or relationship. She was the recipient of the Georgina Henry Women in Journalism award for Innovation at the 2015 British Press Awards. I was aware already that the number of women vilified for supposed witchcraft is comparatively much higher in Scotland than in the rest of the UK. Jednak jest w tej powieści również rodząca się siła, bunt przeciw niesprawiedliwości, jest motywacja, by pokonać strach, wstyd, upokorzenie i to jest najmocniejszy i najważniejszy przekaz „Spalonej”. It is particularly satisfying that Simon, the originator, is given no arc of redemption, though the reader glimpses the nastiness of his father early on; and that the headmaster who dares to suggest that Anna’s choices somehow justified her subsequent treatment is verbally eviscerated by her furious mother.

The other reason is the ending, I found that the revelation of sorts was slightly unbelievable as in I couldn’t see a group of teenagers acting in the way they did, especially in the Uk with 16 year olds. I want to stay here, in the quiet, clean darkness, forever until everybody has forgotten that I even exist. As Anna's former life is revealed through invasive social media posts, she experiences Maggie's persecution through vivid dreams.

The original investigation concluded with most of the evidence pointing to Sal, who was found dead in the woods, apparently by suicide. Można wyrThe Burning by Laura Bates is a well written YA contemporary novel that is an absolutely brutal read. Ma la scintilla divampa e diventa un fuoco indomabile, proprio come quello che lambiva le innocenti carni di quelle donne che nel lontano passato venivano accusate di stregoneria e condannate al rogo. I knew what was coming, but I expected more from that last dream vision, and it fell a little flat for me. In particular, I thought the bond between Anna and her mother was portrayed in a subtle but affecting manner. The author didn’t shy away from harsh issues or sugar-coat what it would actually be like in real life.
