About this deal

At All The Kids, we're all about creating a world of wonder and imagination for children to explore and grow in. A gorgeous picture flap book reminiscent of Night at the Museum, loaded with interesting facts about animals, both alive, endangered and extinct. Also, the hidden facts might be a teaching method for children, but if you read all of facts on a page while trying to read through the main story, the fact side stories interrupt the main plot. The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth is an exciting picture book adventure with a real Night at the Museum feel.

Each page offers a different section of the museum and facts that link to the area, for example when they enter the underwater world there are lots of flaps under the bright illustrations which give lots of information about different sea creatures. THe curious case of the missing mammoth is a brilliant story which mixes the fact finding interest of a non fiction book with a interesting story of a journey around a museum. With detailed and quirky illustrations, richly patterned and packed with famous and sometimes surprising cameos.Packed with incredibly detailed, vibrant illustrations and multiple flaps to lift on each double page, this magical, race-against-time adventure can be enjoyed on two levels. It reads a bit more like a textbook with a narrative thinly woven in, rather than the other way around. The two are led on a crazy madcap chase through The Curious Museum, where they meet many interesting creatures, all come alive in this magical hour, and learn something about them. The only thing was there was quite a lot of information under the flaps and although Mr 3 loved opening the flaps he was not so interested in hearing all the detail underneath, and just wanted to find all the flaps quickly. That's why we take great care in curating a selection of products we know will be loved by parents and children alike.

This book is highly engaging as it's interactive fact flaps will keep children hooked finding information around the book. I didn't care for the non-story parts, like the trivia, as it seemed that the book didn't really know whether to be educational or a magical mystery. They eventually find success when they find Timothy's brother with his mum in the extinct animals exhibit. As the pair race through The Curious Museum, hot on baby brother’s tail, they encounter all sorts of creatures, historical figures and interesting artefacts.

Timothy recruits Oscar to help him find his baby brother before the clock strikes one and the ‘magic hour’ is over.
