About this deal

Another interesting yarn about Wilde, which helps fill more of his background story and delivers an emotionally tense finale. Though this is a sequel to 'The Boy from the Woods', this novel can very well be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. Purposive to prove her innocence, Myron endeavors to uncover the truth, despite Esperanza’s refusal to speak to him on advisement by her lawyer who doesn’t want Myron anywhere near the case, or his client.

When tragedy strikes close to home, Mickey Bolitar and his loyal new friends—the sharp-witted Ema and the enchantingly charming Spoon—find themselves entangled in a horrific mystery involving the shooting of their friend Rachel. People close to Wilde have urged him to look into his background, and perhaps identify his biological parents, which might explain how Wilde ended up a virtual orphan in the woods. Blood discovered at the scene of the murder surprisingly matches that of Rick’s daughter, Miriam, but Terese’s only daughter with Rick had been killed in a car accident ten years earlier; one that eventually led to their separation. Mixing elements of DNA tracking sites (a la 23andme), reality TV and vigilante justice, the characters feel like friends and as always, I regret finishing too quickly, knowing that I will need to wait a year for the next book. He has witnessed his father's death, sent his mom to rehab, and is forced to switch high schools and live with his estranged uncle Myron. He and his loyal new friends Ema and Spoon however find themselves caught up in the mystery involving the shooting of their friend Rachel. Edited: In comments, Nancy points out that their mom, Shirley, has dementia and is living in a care home, which is tragic for Shirley but convenient for the story, since they can’t ask her about the photo.

The gripping new thriller from the No 1 Sunday Times bestselling author and creator of Stay Close and The Stranger . But then of course there’s the 35 year old mystery of how the-child-now-man-known-as-Wilde came to be alone in the woods.

Having previously read book one The Boy From the Woods, I considered it just an ok, albeit confusing read. So impressed with it as I was, I immediately looked for the first in the series only for my wife to tell me she had a copy of the paperback. After a couple of years, and with no child in sight, the couple sank into obscurity and suddenly a scandal was revealed about Peter and he was trolled mercilessly on social media. Silas Bennett– Peter’s older brother (really his uncle) who also matches with Peter on a DNA database.
