However, ultimately, the characters weren’t well developed and I did not feel a connection to any of them and the mystery element was predictable.

Pip has known and liked Sal since childhood; he’d supported her when she was being bullied in middle school. On the other, I did that because the story felt so light that I kind of just wanted to get it over with. Given the type of novel that "This Lie Will Kill You" is, if the writing were its only issue it could pass with a 2.Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap. I am a goddess in a land of pyramids and sand, and if I want, I can make all this blow away with the wind. The friendship with Jess, the family closeness and the love interest scenes were a wonderful addition to the suspense we get, like breathing a bit of fresh air as well.

The story is told in the third person from each character’s point of view, switching between them which took a little getting used to. The slight problem I had with This Lie Will Kill You is that it wasn’t easy to suspend disbelief for some integral parts of the plot, such as how the person was able to engineer the set-up in the deserted mansion in the middle of the woods, something that was never adequately explained.Juniper Torres, Ruby Valentine, Parker Addison, Brett Carmichael, and Gavin Moon receive mysterious invitations from the Ringmaster to attend a murder-mystery dinner contest.

Although it centres around the one event, a lie that has been covered up, the story progresses through all of them sharing their part in it and uncovering the truth.

Like the bad guy is just one, you see her in front of the house, just tackle her, punch her till she can’t move and run. Which I understand is necessary to the plot and the story BUT it’s honestly easy to figure out the truth of what happened at Dahlia Kane’s Christmas Party and as to who really killed Shane just from the first mentions of the party and the little pieces of info given to us by the characters. But the others do nothing for ages, as the focus is not on them and I believe the author forgot they were there and could have helped. Niamh soon realises that other girls have also been attacked - and that they all bear a striking resemblance to her. Alternatively, the differing tones could have been a useful way of differentiating between the narrative past and narrative present, which were frequently switched between.

I feel that this is an author who is taking the first steps on what promises to be a very successful career. To be honest I thought maybe it was a little too obvious, and a twist would expose someone else as being the guilty party (but that didn’t happen).

She had zero interest in getting wasted with her classmates, and even less interest in pretending death was hilarious. But somebody did notice, and when coffee sloshed over Juniper’s fingers, her baby sister frowned, reaching for their mother’s purse. She felt a pang as Olive dabbed the gloss on her lips, wishing she could stay in town and teach her sister about making people better, rather than beautiful. She began gobbling up stories as soon as she could read, and especially enjoys delving into the darker places to see if she can draw out some light. He’s the beautiful, mysterious, romantic stranger who appears out of nowhere and instantly falls for one of the characters and seems to offer the solution to all her life’s problems until he is suddenly murdered.
