About this deal

If the entrance to the canal is very hairy then rub a little thornit into the hair first , leave a few minutes and it plucks out painlessly ( or snip short with scissors) so you can clear the canal and the powder will actually go down it. No word of a lie within 3 days the soreness and redness in her ear disappeared and in less than 3 weeks her ear was totally back to normal and did not reoccur EVER. I have been umming and aaring about getting some, Tawny always has skanky ears, not so bad on a good diet but havong been swimming a lot lately they are annoying her again. Pebble had an ear infection when she was a puppy (about 7 months old) she had ear drops which did eventually clear it up but it took a while.

Thornit-any good? | UK Pet Forums Forum

Have to say we are Thornit converts and agree with Penny that wet ear solutions seemed to cause more problems for Paddy.

Since most vets would poo poo putting home remedies into the ear canal, I suspect they are covering themselves. its an iodophore (iodine deriviative) hence smelling like an old hospital and effective against some mites and bacteria (some farm disinfectants such as Fam contain an iodophore). As you can see from this I am it's biggest fan, Ideally it should not be put near eyes and should not be ingested, but i have never had any problems even if dogs do lick a little, they soon stop cause I guess they don't much like the smell or taste. My question is (a) how long does this normally take to work and (b) do I need to wash his ears out with ear wash whilst treating him with Thornit? For those that might not know about this product it is a powder which is supposed to help treat ear problems be it earmites/allergy etc.

Thornit Ear Powder for Ears | VioVet

I literally asked my vet the other day was there any sort of powder on the market that you can use on dogs who suffer with damp problems in their ears to 'dry' them out, no nothing he replied. There’s the white chocolate Easter bunny egg, milk chocolate dinosaur egg and milk chocolate unicorn egg. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen.Kabagon • Kabandha • Kagemushi • Kaiaimunu • Kaijin • Kakuran no Mushi • Kalanoro • Kameshaku • Kami • Kanmushi • Kansas City Winged Demon • Kanshaku • Kap-Dwa • Kappa • Kapre • Karkadann • Kasa-Obake • Kasai rex • Kataw • Kawuk • Kek Tung • Kellas Cat • Kelpie • Khaiyr Beast • Kidoky • Kiidk'yaas • Kikiyaon • Kinderhook Blob • Kingstie • Kitsune . I've spoken to vets about Thornit-most haven't heard of it and would therefore want to stick with something that they know would relieve sypmtoms (and Canaural does/would). so you can treat the infection but it wouldnt be treating the problem and it would reoccur-and yes, some dogs have mites but any scratching could lead to secondary bacterial infection then as well.

thornits ear mite powder — MoneySavingExpert Forum

I use thornit as a preventative, if your dog already has an ear infection, it may need treating first to clear it up as much as possible, have a smell, if there's any smell and you're not sure, get a vet to have a look at it first and don't be fobbed off with canaural liquid, if there's an underlying infection they need to take swabs and determine a course of treatment. It has many uses deters mites etc and like someone said a pinch rubbed each paw should help keep grass mites away, I use it in wounds and cuts not only on animals but myself with terrific healing results, cuts heal very quickly.

We take cotton pads with us :redface3: A weekly dose of Thornit helps the dryness, makes sense to keep ears dry to stop festering little infections! If animal has long hair, part with a comb and feed a trickle of powder to the exposed skin — a little powder goes a long way. I use it for all ear probs, though now I put a pinch in each ear, each week my dogs rarely have an ear problem. There’s our Continental chocolate Easter egg, decorated with swirling loops of white and dark chocolate and paired with a selection of eight chocolates from our much-loved Continental range.
