About this deal

She looked into the different sterilisation modes and scoured the market for cutting-edge new products as well as old established favourites. Dr Browns every time - baby never had wind issues a friend of mine who fosters babies recommended them and we have never had an issue. Since babies have such fragile immune systems, they’re more susceptible to stomach-related illnesses, so it’s important to wash bottles with soap and warm water before sterilising them.

Microwave sterilisers also use steam to sterilise their contents, which may appeal to you if you prefer to sterilise without chemicals. A full sterilise and dry cycle takes 45 minutes and like most sterilisers on our list, after sterilisation the items remain germ-free for 24 hours if you leave the lid on. Parents love the ease of filling up the vessel with water, popping in a sterilising tablet or liquid and adding whatever needs sterilising. With regards to how long you need to self-sterilise the bottles in the microwave if you are only sterilising a single bottle, it takes 3 minutes. Their versatility means that you can use them to pretty much sterilise anything, including mobile phones and keys, however some UV sterilisers may not be suitable for sterilising natural rubber and latex (think certain dummies and the ever-popular Sophie La Girafe). Our favourite setting is Storage mode, which allows the UV light to run every couple of hours to keep items sterilised throughout the day. It can sterilise up to 6 bottles at once — similar to the NUK Vario Express steriliser — but unlike the Nuk you can also use the included accessory tray to sterilise bottle teats, dummies, teethers and other accessories at the same time as the bottles. It's incredibly easy to use — just turn it on, select your preferred setting (sterilise only, dry only, combo sterilise and dry) and it will get to work. MAM themselves offer their very own kit and depending upon the bottle size, you can either sterilise 4 large or 6 small MAM bottles at once.

After you have filled the compartment, you can lift it up and fill water into the steriliser until it reaches the maximum level. It's an ideal solution for travelling and, as there aren't specific compartments, any bottles, dummies or small toys will fit. That's where the Nuby electric steriliser and dryer is different, as it promises to dry your bottles within 35 minutes or 20 minutes for a fast-dry cycle. A word of caution, the steriliser is extremely hot and you’ll want to use a kitchen towel to take it out of the microwave and remove the lid. I know they can be done in the microwave but at the moment we put them in the tommie tippee electric steriliser but that has stopped working and the bottles never really fit nicely in there .To clean the teat, we firstly recommend that you run it through your fingers whilst it’s submerged in the soapy water. If you’re bottle-feeding full-time, however, and need something reliable that will fit in all of your gear, the Dr Brown’s Electric Steam Steriliser is a good choice. On the downside, the heating plate will almost certainly attract limescale over time so the steriliser will need descaling once or twice a month. It’s recommended that you sterilise anything thattouchesbreast milk or formula, as well as anything thatregularly goes in your baby’s mouth.

Sterilizing all your baby’s feeding equipment helps protect them from bugs, germs and bacteria that could make your baby sick. Once the steriliser is full, put the lid on and ensure that it clips onto the side (as shown below). There are 3 types of sterilisers to choose from – steam sterilisers (electric or microwave) and cold water sterilisers are most common, whereas newer models now use UV light as well.I love this product for delivering exactly what it promises – a convenient steriliser small enough to fit in a large changing bag. After pushing together the valve and base, it’s advised that you give it a good shake over the sink. Altogether, the Tommee Tippee Super-Steam is a reliable, thoughtfully-designed steriliser that’s widely available, well-supported and should do its job consistently over time – a lifesaver to an overloaded new parent and a worthy winner of this year’s Mumsnet Best Steriliser award. The best part about this method is that this cold-water solution can be reused for the next 24 hours after the initial setup.

If you are using small MAM bottles, you can add up to six but if you are using large MAM bottles (as shown in the image), you can add up to four into the steriliser. Although you can get away without using a brush, we highly recommend it because milk residue can get clogged at the exit of the teat and the brush does a great job at cleaning it. It's tall enough for five Dr Brown bottles and also has three different settings depending on how dry you want bottles. It’s best to use sterile tongs to handle teats afterwards to prevent contamination, and the majority of sterilisers come with a pair – put the tongs in with the cycle and you know they’re OK to use. If budget is a concern, cold-water or microwave sterilisation systems tend to be more economical, yet still very effective solutions. In the box, you’ll also get an Easy Start anti-colic bottle, soother, and a set of teat tongs, which makes it a great starter pack for new parents. Getting yourself the best steriliser is one of the best and easiest ways to keep your baby’s feeding products bacteria-free, and is even recommended by the NHS.
