About this deal

Unloved by her mother, abused by her father, and brutalised throughout her entire marriage, she smashed her husband's skull in a final act of desperation. this time following the O’Hara family headed by Aiden O’Hara starting with him growing up as the eldest son of the ‘flakey’ mother of the clan Reeva and becoming a face to be reckoned with. There are no nice men or partly nice men with any major role in this novel, perhaps a deliberate ploy on Cole's part to make the reader, male or female, relate to Susan and nobody else.

Family aggro follows pregnancy or picking up a ‘bit of strange’ when you are married and flaunting it and don’t forget drunken outbursts. In my review of ‘Get Even’, I said that you might still enjoy it if it was your first Martina Cole book but I think even then, you would be disappointed with ‘Betrayal’. i loved how she managed to get me into those people to understand their decisions and why they behave that way because she gave the proper introductions to their lives. I skimmed through a lot of it, but if you like stories about violent thugs and people with hopless, unhappy, self-destructive lives, you might like this book! In the year 2008, Cole participated in a drama series in the form of a documentary as an author which was shown on ITV.The characters were so well developed you can’t help but love them, or hate them as the case may be.

Uma pessoa extremamente violenta e pouco racional, que negligencia sua mulher e filhas, preferindo passar seu tempo livre bebendo, se drogando e tendo relações com a maior quantidade de mulheres possível.Meanwhile, Eamonn leaves for America along with his father and after some time he becomes one of the deadliest villains of New York. I was hoping for strong, no nonsense characters, a bit of violence, plenty of swearing and drama and I received that ten fold! I took ages getting to this book as it has taken a fair amount of slating on many book clubs, for a while fans have commented on Cole's book just not being a shadow of her former works.

With believable characters and a strong storyline this novel treated sexual, physical and mental abuse with realistic brutality and yet the characters kept their dignity and respect throughout. Not sure what anyone else has been reading, but there was no suspense, no drama, and anyone should be able to work out who the perpetrator is by about half way through the book. This is an appeal that she doesn't intend to go through with, it's just a means of getting closer to her family for a few weeks to make visits easier.

A four-part TV adaptation of Dangerous Lady was broadcast on ITV in 1995, and in 1998 ITV broadcast a four-part adaptation of The Jump. The book starts on the day that Freddie Jackson is released from prison in 1984 after a six year stint. All Reeva's children work for “the firm” - it is impossible, under Aiden's rule, for any of them to work honestly. The characters were horrible in the extreme, the action violent and shocking, the storyline miserable and predictable, and the actual writing was poor. Each programme told the story of an individual killer with expert analysis and dramatic reconstruction.

One of my favourites by her anyway, enough for me to give 5 stars anyway and I've been trying to save that rating for amazing books. They made reader love them, they made reader sad, they made reader angry, they made reader laugh, they made reader cry, and they made reader believe in the promise of love and home.

She has achieved sales of over fourteen million in the UK alone and her tenth novel, The Know, spent seven weeks on The Sunday Times hardback best-sellers list. I can’t say that this is the best book I’ve read recently, Many years ago I was a great fan of Martina Cole, but maybe I’ve grown out of them a little.
