The ending of this book was a real surprise that I did not expect, at all, and the authors’ talent at spinning such a twisted story is evident. I knew there was a story building but I questioned as to how long it was going to take to get there. Stina makes friends with the old lady who lives next door she is friendly and helpful but other people in the village warn Stina against her neighbour. Muriel has had her washing on the little line that Albert strung up for her, and has just brought it in. Bedroom 1: Super king bed, luxury natural mattress, Hungarian Goose Down duvet, Egyptian cotton bedlinen and towels. Outside: There is a private terrace with outdoor furniture for 4 overlooking the owners garden and fields behind. That along with some strange night time noises and a visitor only Stina seems to see, put her on edge and make her question whether this is a safe place to bring up a new baby. When strange things start to happen the couple are left wondering if this was the right move for them.Yet, the slow pace of the story and the lengthy conclusion did lessen the overall impact of this spooky narrative. The rest of the villagers had a very poor opinion of her and some even considered her a witch although she was nothing but supportive of Stina and Jack.

I couldn't stop listening to this story -- I had to know what was going on in the cottage and in the nearby village!There were parts that never added up and didn't make any sense with no reaction from the characters (I felt Stina's reaction to the "twist" was more or less nothing); I also felt that there wasn't really an explanation whose perspective the prologue was from.
