In each year group, children will be taught specific spelling rules which they will build on and use throughout the scheme. There is a focus on drama, oracy and language development, equipping children with fundamental knowledge and skillsthat will enable themto be successful throughout their lives. Jane Considine will be coming to Northamptonshire on the 7th December 2023 to deliver Fantastic Foundations, in person. Children learn to sentence stack, focusing on the style of the author and impact of words and sentences. Children at Keresleyschoolsare encouraged to see writing as a journey; re-drafting and editing are used before writing is published.

This includes project sessions, structure of English lessons, writing non-negotiables, assessment and marking. understand a range of punctuation and the effect it can have on the reader in both writing and reading.The Three Zones of Writing: The FANTASTICs (Ideas), The GRAMMARISTICs (Tools), and The BOOMTASTICs (Techniques) support their learning, precision and writing.

After they have written their independent piece, their work is marked by the class teacher who identifies different aspects of their written piece to be edited. During the Model section the teacher prepares children for writing by modelling the ideas, grammar and techniques of writing taken from the writing rainbow. Jane Considine will be coming to Northamptonshire on the 12th December 2023 to deliver Hooked on Books, in person. We develop and produce a wide range of current, practical and highly effective resources for use within the classroom. We use Letter-join as the basis of our handwriting policy that covers all the requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum.

Now in her 25th year in the primary education profession, Jane’s incredible knowledge and expertise provides a solid framework for teachers, enabling her to support, enrich and sharpen the teaching of reading, writing and spelling. Spelling is taught through a range of strategies including fun activities and games to embed the spelling rules and list taught for that year group. Within the tiers of the rainbow are contained the 27 lenses that form the construct for all writing, both narrative and non-fiction. The poster is organised into three tiers to match the ‘Three Zones of Writing’; the FANTASTICs, the GRAMMARISTICs and the BOOMTASTICs.

Model section – the teacher close models a sentence that outlines clear writing features and techniques. Discrete gammar lessons are also taught to ensure specific grammar knowledge is taught and revisited.The 2014 National Curriculum identifies spelling lists that every child in each Key Stage of primary school needs to know by the end of that Key Stage. Children are challenged to ‘Deepen the Moment’ which requires them to independently draw upon previously learnt skills and apply them to their writing during that chunk.

IDEAS - The FANTASTICs uses a child friendly acronym to represent the nine idea lenses through which children can craft their ideas.

Children are immersed in a key text, revealing plot points one at a time through the 'slow reveal'to maintain the excitement of revealing the story. I plan to use the powerpoint each day, (with the Jane Considine symbols for each day added on to the powerpoint and stickers) as we do the sentence stacking or experience days, and use the stickers on the left hand side of English books, as we jot our vocabulary and ideas.
