About this deal

While most high-end IPS panels now have faster refresh rate and various blur-reduction solutions, they do pale in comparison to the ZOWIE XL2566K’s TN panel and DyAc+ blur-reduction technology. Using ZOWIE’s proprietary XL Setting to Share software, users can share or receive monitor settings from their friends or other professional esports players, which makes trying out different settings easy and accessible.

Actually had we had the chance to use our gamma corrected response time measurements on the Asus, we would have very likely seen that these transitions were much slower when you consider visual RGB changes, which is very common for IPS-type panels. It has a 360Hz refresh rate, support for adaptive-sync VRR, and it features BenQ’s exclusive “DyAc+” technology (more on that later).

From this gaming point of view we were very impressed with the performance of the XL2566K, it is all things considered the fastest monitor we’ve tested to date and the fastest 1080p monitor on the market.Depending on where the gamma is too low or too high, it can have an impact on the image in certain ways. It won’t look as crisp and sharp as a 4K screen or provide the same level of detail, but that’s not the requirement here anyway. Note that this reduces the brightness somewhat, and that not everyone can handle these sorts of technologies (it can lead to headaches for some people) but not every pro uses DyAc, and the XL2566K is extremely smooth and precise even without this technology activated.

If you do have a PC that can run your game(s) of choice at 360 frames per second, the XL2566K is a dream come true for competitive gamers.

Fine for office and internet use, but obviously not appropriate for any photography or professional uses. BenQ don’t actually list a G2G response time spec for this screen at all, probably because the market has gotten unrealistic and confusing anyway with all these <1ms G2G response time specs. The quick explanation is that grey-to-grey is almost an entirely arbitrary measure of pixels’ ability to turn from partially on, to fully on, back to partially on again.

This causes the panel to produce ‘motion blur’ where it quickly tries to render the next image while still showing the previous image for half a second as the crystals slowly turn off. The ability to operate at a consistent 360 frames per second is only really feasible for casual and competitive games. In practice the tracking of moving objects became a bit easier across the screen with a sharper and clearer image. Beneath this RGB balance graph we provide the average correlated colour temperature for all grey shades measured, along with its percentage deviance from the 6500k target.
