Description

Rise of the Ogre is an autobiography about the virtual band Gorillaz, ostensibly written by the four band-members in collaboration with (actual) Gorillaz musician and official scribe Cass Browne. I just recently got into the band gorillaz and was so excited to learn more about the lore and the story and everything I was quite disappointed when I found that the hardcover book is so expensive. As a long time fan of Gorillaz, I enjoy watching, listening, and reading anything they come up with.

It covers the band from 2000 and their first EP, Tomorrow Comes Today through their 2006 tour ending at the Apollo Theater. While they could have gone and made a quick small book with existing artwork, they laboured in creating a genesis of a band showcasing every little minute detail in their lives to the present. The book explores their origins, their loves and hates, they're issues, victories, writing lyrics, creating videos, collaborating (with the ppl that actually took part in creating the band), photo shoots, romances, affairs, hauntings etc, arguing and discussing every thing while showing pictures of them every step of the way. Feel free to contact one our staff team members for help, or visit our Discord server for more information. If it won't get re-published (which I hope it will) with the addition of Plastic Beach story this may turn into quite the collectors artifact! Small lower rear corner tear to jacket with small nick also to top front corner of DJ spine, light rubbing to DJ and usage only, internally VG+ and unmarked. It is, absurdly, the fictional autobiography of a virtual band, with fabulous graphic artwork and comical interviews.

You discover so many things about the band through a funny, well-written story and the illustrations are fabulous. But remember you love Kermit the Frog and Gonzo for them, not because it's Jim Henson and Frank Oz moving them. The back cover of the book features Jamie's interpretation of what all of the band would look like combined. Bits like this help you enjoy this book twice as much as if you would only see it as one or the other.

Featuring brand new art from and designed by Jamie Hewlett, this is the full story of Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs for the first time. Featuring brand new art from and designed by Jamie Hewlett, this is the full story of Murdoc, 2-D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs for the first time. It was first published on October 26, 2006 in the United Kingdom and later on November 2, 2006 in the United States. As far as I can tell, this at least gets all the content right, even if the experience of leafing through that beautiful hardcover is lost.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I bought a used version a whole 7 years after it was published for a total of 28 pounds which is a bargain considered this book sells for more than 70 in some instances. Visually stunning and you can tell so much thought has gone into the design - extra little touches, like the gold foiling under the dust jacket, make it worth every penny for anyone who likes the Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett or top notch design work. Rise of the Ogre is the autobiography of Gorillaz, written by Cass Browne and illustrated by Jamie Hewlett and Zombie Flesh Eaters. Thank you for preserving this excellent book - I have many great memories of checking this out from the library in high school over and over again and using it to piece together the lore behind a band I loved.

Very well-preserved, light wear to jacket edges and corners a little bumped due to storage otherwise VG bright and unmarked. An audiobook of Rise of the Ogre was released in four parts; making it the first audiobook in the world to be released in a singles format. The band has shot to popularity in the UK following their debut album, Gorillaz , and have been named "World's Most Successful Virtual Band" according to the Guiness Book of Records. It contains previously unknown secrets of the band, such as future plans of the movie, new and rare art by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett, the "low down" on Kong Studios, their headquarters, and the story of the truth behind the " El Mañana" video. Initially iTunes exclusive, one part was released every week for four weeks beginning December 5th 2006.
