Description

The micro-porous formulation allows moisture to escape slowly preventing the buildup of problems behind the damp seal.

Rot in timber can be a major cause of structural damage to your home and occurs primarily due to damp or poor ventilation. It can be very serious – if you suspect you have rot, you should call in specialist help. You can apply anti damp or damp seal paint to most interior walls and surfaces and it’s suitable for most rooms. Once your plaster or sealant is dry, sand down the area so it’s smooth and flat to the surrounding wall. Wash away the residue With the Thompsons paint you can expect around 5m2/L paint coverage making it ideal for small problematic areas. You should apply the Thompsons damp seal with a brush for the best results and ensure that the damp problem area has been prepared before applying. We tested the colour retention of clear waterproof sealants and mastics by applying the products to new plastic cups. These cups were filled halfway with tap water, covered, and maintained under identical conditions for several days. Waterproof sealant clear test results in water. It is important to provide a protective layer to the Epoxy Damp Proof Membrane. We suggest this is done by applying one or two coats of our Epoxy Floor Coating HB. The HB coating offers a long lasting, high-gloss grey finish which protects the damp proof membrane and gives an aesthetically pleasing finish to the floor. Looking for more information? How Permagard can help In the case of existing concrete floors in factories, commercial spaces and offices, epoxy floor coatings can also be used for its visual impact with its high shine finish and range of colours as well as acting as a DPM for those wanting to achieve a decorative finish. Rising damp starts low and moves up your home’s walls, causing serious issues. Often this is due to your damp proof course failing through poor installation, age, or damage.

We conducted a test demonstrating Adiseal Ultra Clear’s ability to retain its clear appearance even after prolonged submersion in water. It’s good practice to apply a coat of damp seal paint before adding your chosen colour. Not only does it give you peace of mind, but it also helps prevent any dampness from seeping into your walls. Bathrooms and kitchens particularly benefit from this extra step, so be sure to keep that in mind when you’re deciding on whether to use a primer or seal. Paint your walls Alternatively, if your rising damp is caused by significant damage to your damp proof course, you may need to replace the entire course. We would recommend you hire a professional to install a new damp proof course as this is a difficult, time-consuming job.An epoxy liquid membrane is applied to the floor itself and creates an impermeable layer meaning that water stays in the concrete slab. This is different from plastic DPMs that sit above the concrete slab and can potentially allow water to pass through to the surface of the concrete. This becomes a problem when the surface water moves to the edges of the DPM and transfers up to the floor covering, skirting boards and wall finishes. Water is very good at working its way into our homes through your damp proof course thanks to tiny tears or mistakes made during the installation process. What’s more, over time, structures near your home (like steps) can also cause water to penetrate your damp proof course. Moisture then begins to seep into your walls, spreading through the materials and causing issues.
