But for all its faults the novel is an undemanding read, Lapena’s prose is engaging and the action brisk as she poses the now all too familiar question of whether we can really know or trust those people we choose to let into our lives. Imagine having three life-coaches who had been through the toughest mental and physical challenges; a crack team of problem-solvers who knew in their day job that one mistake could be the difference between life - and death.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He has become an alcoholic, his wife has left him, his sister is ashamed of him, while his daughter Angela, who still lives in his increasingly shabby large house, despises him. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. I have only just found Shari Lapena and in the last couple of months l have read 5 of her books and just started the 6th one. But it was also the era of the new National Health Service and child allowances, cloth caps and bobbies on bicycles contrasted with new fangled television sets that seemed to show a lot of snow and prefab houses with electric fridges and bathrooms. With such a bland cast it is difficult to invest in the drama, and given that any savvy reader will have this one sussed well before close of play the reader is left to wonder what takes Detective Rasbach so long!

Karen grabbed her pink rubber gloves and her illegally purchased gun and sped off to where Robert was. Learn nine essential ways to detox your mindset, feel lighter and more energised, to live a happier and more fulfilling life. I could not sympathise with Tom or understand Karen as much as I tried even though I could tell that the author was trying to grow these characters as much as possible. And that Brigid carefully laid out her plans so she could frame Karen to finally have Tom all to herself. Aside from painfully bad writing, A Stranger in the House features perhaps the single worst literary character: Tom Krupp. Tom was astonished and Brigid took note of his fears that Brigid being a witness would incriminate Karen. The movie moves at just the right pace, the interweaving of the characters' motives and behaviors is artfully executed and the musicality of the picture's dynamics is professionally effected. Tom is an unbelievably gullible chump and given his high-flying career and supposed intelligence has seemingly never enquired as to his wife’s past and is easily played by Brigid, who herself isn’t the sharpest.
