If it's of any help: As best as I can remember (??) I got away with replacing the offside bulb without removing the whole light unit, fiddly for sure but not impossible. BUT... nearside unit had to be removed to gain access. However, the beam pattern is I think going to depend upon several factors; 1) position of the hotspot, 2) size / shape of the hotspot, 3) supporting structures for the bulb / filament. I would imagine that in a 'perfect' lightsource / reflector that there is a single infinitely small hotspot at the precise focus of the reflector and no supports required. It would also produce a perfect parallel beam. Everything else being a compromise, but that can be used to good effect if properly designed to give 'areas' of light at required distances, instead of just a narrow parallel beam.

Only downside with any LED lights is less light output on wet ground (for example if you have wet ground and bright yellow streetlights). but i have pics that show its still really good! So i suggest if you want good upgrade a would go for these! less hassle than HID but more plug and play like a normal bulb. this seems a good in between :) The build quality looks and feels like its been built to a very high standard!
