So to sum up the Inspector Williams books are well worth the read but the ones with the author as the main character are a bit of an acquired taste and not for me! There were moments where I dreaded turning the page or I almost had to read through my fingers as I feared what was awaiting me over the page. yes, I know I'm picky) with believable characters across a wide spectrum; some likeable, others scary, all memorable. I worked in management at McDonalds Restaurants Ltd from 1989-2002, working my way up to Business Consultant (area manager) working in the corporate and franchised departments. All the speech identifiers got a little irritating, its always more noticeable on audiobook than reading, it stops the flow of the dialogue.

year-old Mathew Hardman stabbed her to death, performed a bizarre ritual, cut her heart out, placing it on a silver platter then drinking her blood. The relationship between them was good to read and certainly can’t be easy having a dad as a copper. After an elite criminal profiling unit is shut down amid a storm of scandal and mismanagement, only one person emerges unscathed.Once police contact told me: "If I told you what was found in that house you would never believe me. Two miles along the headland at Porth Dafarch, a third victim is found but there are no obvious links.

Set on Anglesey it follows DI Alan Williams and his partner DS Kim Davies as body after body washes up on the shores. A sombre looking Divisional Commander, Keith Humphreys, told us a briefing would be held later that afternoon at the Llandegai police station where an incident room was being set up. The particular weapon is designed for hunting to bring down game, and that is what my dad became: prey. The jury heard Hardman may have walked from his home to Mrs Leyshon's bungalow across the field we could clearly see from this vantage point.

DI Williams certainly has his work cut out in this first book as he has to deal with drug gang wars and a serial killer, and the body count soon mounts up. Hysteria is the second instalment in Ross' brand new Dr Alex Gregory series, narrated by actor Hugh Dancy. As bodies kept dropping, I kept reading and wondering just how many killers there were, because there are so many villains in this complex story.

Although I have most of Conrad’s books on my ‘to be read’ mountain, I have only read a couple of them.Overall, there are a lot of characters—forty-five, not counting miscellaneous police and tertiary townspeople. I like the setting and it’s relationship to the crime, but I feel manipulated by the tension - particularly the juxtaposing of the criminal mind and the police procedure.

A few book friends rave about this authors books, but isn’t a name that regularly crops up in the social media book clubs. When Harriet Vane attends her Oxford reunion, known as the 'Gaudy', the prim academic setting is haunted by a rash of bizarre pranks: scrawled obscenities, burnt effigies and poison-pen letters - including one that says, 'Ask your boyfriend with the title if he likes arsenic in his soup. Before fleeing from the house, Hardman positioned two brass pokers at her feet in the shape of a crucifix. Determined to stop the horrific deaths, Imogen is forced to act as bait - but will she get caught in her own trap? But being a working mother is so much more difficult when you're a secret agent for an underground branch of the security services.
