Description

This is one of the games where you’ll want to use the included privacy screens to cover up your part of the board as there is hidden information. And while several players can all crowd around the table at once, online multiplayer is also available, letting you max out a game’s number of players with friends around the world.

Arcade1Up states that the Infinity is water resistant and impact resistant out of the box but, like any screen, this has its limits, and generally a home’s coffee table is expected to withstand some wear and tear beyond what your average screen device will generally face. When it’s your turn, you touch one of your pieces, and you’ll get a graphical representation of all the spaces to which that piece can legally move. We've seen iOS and Android helper apps for board games, virtual recreations of board games ( Tabletopia, Tabletop Simulator and so on), and we've also seen a few attempts at creating a large touchscreen game surface that can replace map tiles, game boards and other physical parts of games.

After only 15 minutes of use, I began to feel some pain and discomfort in my neck from leaning over the table’s screen, and this only got worse further into playtime. It’s hard to argue with the limitless options offered by the Infinity virtual board game tablet table, and any board game enthusiasts could probably justify the money spent with just a few board game nights. At the same time, despite that overall expense the Infinity generally fails to offer board-game experiences that are superior to (or often even match) their physical counterparts – or can act as an attractive living room centerpiece. Arcade1Up has made a name for itself by producing an eclectic mix of affordable home arcade cabinets, but its latest product is quite a departure from the brand's usual fare.

Games like Operation are almost completely reimagined for the Infinity Game Table, where players now guide a pair of virtual tweezers through a complicated maze without hitting the sides. You’ll often be feeling for the controls, which is why it would have been nice to have more space between them. For instance, missiles rain down from above in Battleship, creating a fiery explosion when you successfully strike a target.Arcade1Up has partnered with The Op, so hopefully more of their great catalog will make its way soon to the Infinity Game Table.
