This review felt so satisfying to read and I can only imagine how it must feel for you 😂 I adore this review but girl how did you find the strength to suffer through this entire chonky book? I understand the need for everyone in the town to dislike him due to how him and Alana parted; however, their constant need to be rude him felt overboard and exhausting.

And, he decides that he would spend every last second of a sober life proving to Lana that he is the man that could give her and Cami a life filled with love. The fact that we had so many new tropes was something super different and good in the Dreamland universe: small town and second chance.Whenever Cal is around people, his coping mechanism is to fiddle with Lana’s hair instead of alcohol. i have a personal pet peeve with second chance romances where the hero doesn’t really offer much when trying to change his attitude and behaviour while atoning for his mistakes. his fears echoed mine, his self-sabotage habits mimicked mine and his coping mechanisms tore me apart. she’s definitely one of my top fave fictional kids in a romance book (rivalling Jeremy Volkov and Lucy).

I'm the Kane brother everyone gossips about - trust fund brat, washed-up athlete, high-functioning alcoholic. The size difference between us is comical, but her grip is strong as she shakes my arm like a pool noodle. Lana believes in Cal getting sober and Cal wants to go back to rehab but he has to complete his part of the will. Cal sees Lana near the river and asks what’s wrong and Lana asks him why he’s selling the house, hoping he would be honest.I loved that Asher didn’t go with the “love heals all” path; Cal doesn’t instantly change his ways because Alana is back in his life.

There’s no confirmation yet but we can expect right because the dirty air series is getting a 2nd generation series in 2024.Like Cal, Lana expresses a lot of self-pity throughout the book, and both their depressing inner monologues made it difficult to remember whose point of view each chapter was.
