Kensington claims it can charge 108% faster than Apple's normal charger, and while I didn't do the exact maths, I can say that it is speedy. Windows is a disgraceful mess, with inexplicably inaccessible user directories (and multiple mirrors therof); a defective UI with hidden controls and other peek-a-boo bullshìt, Outlook no longer included, and an Office suite in moribund disarray. It’s all very easy, everything worked as it should, there’s no additional software to install, and it looks lovely on your desk. Some days I enjoy the more minimal, distraction-free workflow of the iPad while some days it's nice to have a larger screen and more flexible OS.

It also features a breathtaking 1000 nits of full‑screen brightness and 1600 nits of peak brightness. The ideal iPad Pro docking station that expands more than your desktop options - it expands your creativity. The grey-threaded material for the Qi wireless charging is also quite stylish and breaks up the pure silver aesthetic while outlining the placement of the AirPods’ charging case (which I don’t have yet). On one side of the dock you’ll find a USB-C port and a power button, while the other has an SD card slot and a headphone jack.

This move, when paired with Apple’s improved support for external storage in iPadOS, has made it much easier to use various USB-C hubs and adapters to plug multiple devices in at once. I would’ve liked to see one more USB-C port available on the StudioDock, but considering the entire device is connected to the iPad through a single USB-C port, the reality is you’d only ever be able to get half the maximum bandwidth of a USB-C connection, even if no other ports were being used. However, it is an expensive piece of kit and whether or not it'll be right for you will largely depend on what you're going to use it for. Dropbox on my iPads synchronises fine and is well integrated with Microsoft Office allowing direct editing of those files. It sounds like there are some of those 'gotchas' that always seem to happen on iOS when you get away from Apple's own cloud. The totally wild Kensington StudioDock pushes the iPad Pro far outside its normal tablet window, and that just makes me want Apple to close the gap and turn this thing into the Swiss Army computer it nearly already is. I mean trust me I enjoy using my MacBook for certain things so I understand some of your points, but the tablet is the future it just requires modernizing of ones workflow.

Laptop stands exist, obviously, but not everyone wants to use them, and I like that the StudioDock means you’re not stuck with a redundant keyboard and trackpad. Last up is the right-hand side of the StudioDock, which features the aforementioned UHS-II SD card reader and a single 3. When you weigh it up, the StudioDock provides decent value, just for a different segment of iPad owner than the Magic Keyboard. no real video editing software (only dumbed down premiere, no avid, no media encoder, no Davinci resolve, no Mocca, no After Effects, no real final cut I think?I say this as someone who has consistently captured and offloaded thousands of (Raw) images over the course of a weekend (shooting motorsports), I can assure you there are workflows where wires are indeed a requirement. All they ever care about are functionally counter-productive cosmetic changes on surface and trying to "hide as much as possible from direct access to users".

As I described in our original news coverage of the device, the StudioDock effectively turns your iPad into an iMac-like workstation, complete with built-in chargers for your phone, wireless headphones and other Qi-enabled devices. So far as I can tell, all it would take is tweaking the plastic nub that covers the male USB-C/Thunderbolt port, since that seems to be the limiting component (not enough clearance). In 2023, it recognized 14 titles across five platforms: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The magnetic holder also leaves space for the camera (so you won’t have to worry about scratching it), as well for the Apple Pencil and an optional magnetic Apple Watch charging module (coming sometime in mid-2021), which pleasantly sits alongside the iPad.Macro is a full-frame L-mount lens that's designed to be a medium telephoto, portrait and macro lens all-in-one. The ideal iPad Pro docking station that expands more than your desktop options — it expands your creativity. It even has a few hidden features ready to surprise, and the design itself is modern and stylish enough that it’ll look great on your desk or in your living room. If you have a wireless keyboard and mouse (or, just plug in wired ones to the extra ports on the StudioDock), you're good to go.
