Description

It has an extremely pleasant scent to my nose, with an opening full of lemon blossom and green notes, and a drydown of green notes (especially oakmoss), birch, rosemary, and leather. this a solid classic mature cologne; the opening is a blast of fresh green herbs (not too strong) but it melts down into a very nice dry chypre and woody Fougere, it has some spices in its composition that give a deep and enchanting performance to the fragrance; birch, leather, and Oakmoss are there, especially the leather and Oakmoss notes although not too harsh in the projection, the cologne dries down in a kind of herbal and mossy smell; somehow similar to Paco Rabanne and Pour Lui(Oscar De La Renta); I could dare to say this fragrance represents the image of a mature gentleman in his 50s (I may be wrong) but to me this fragrance can only be rocked by a strong gentleman with a solid rock character and steel personality; there's no way that a metrosexual-new boy can pull this fragrance as probably he wouldn't have enough men's testosterone in his body to hold this fragrance for just one day.

If I could have things my way, I'd pull out the florals and powdery accords (which could be from the floral notes) and move the base of this up to the heart. Everywhere I walk, there is a terrifying aromatic aura around me for a period of no less than 6 hours. Bogart is not brash like a lot of aromatic fougeres from its era, and I consider it to be mainly a leather fragrance. Longevity has suffered with my June 2021 bottle with 6 hours of longevity and sillage of max 1 hour. Jacques Bogart is one of my favourite houses, so many great fragrances from the one man show line, silver scent line etc.Bogart is stronger, denser, and more mature-smelling than Shock, which is a bit muskier and more fleeting, more candied, more whimsical. I think its the bergamot mixed with rose and tonka bean, it makes it smell like a red fruit of some sort and people are starting to believe the hype and think of Cherry when they smell this. Bogart pour Homme has been part of my arsenal since April 2018, and I only now realize that I haven't spent a few words to tell so much beauty. The beauty of the perfume is that it doesn't change much through the dry down yet it lasts for well above 10 hours.

It opens with lavender and bergamot top notes, transitioning into orange blossom, lily of the valley, and rose middle notes, and finally concludes with patchouli, cedar, oakmoss, tonka bean, and musk. If it were from another House, it had another bottle and another image, for sure that this one would be among the great fragrances, recognized and valued as such. I found it somewhat harsh when I first bought it, but after a few years of sitting on my shelf, Bogart Pour Homme has become much smoother and more enjoyable to wear. Albeit this fragrance, at least the content of this bottle, seems a little short in longevity (3-4 hrs) and most certainly in projection (skin-scent after 1 hour), it’s a rather rough ride while it lasts. The first hour of the drydown is to die for as the aroma fades into a bitter and fresh tobacco accord that plays around with the fading middle notes.Very interesting, it's sweet, but also has a nice fresh aura around it from lavender, which comes a little minty, also it's sour and woody. There's cinnamon IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR PERFUMES and it's actually the main smell of them, and I hate cinnamon. That said, be warned that the oakmoss, carnation and bitter leather combination may smell dated to Sauvage/Aventus fanboys, and it's not a crowdpleaser, thus hard to pull off in presence of "average joe" crowds. I'm a small time hobbyist/ collector and a Baby boomer so without further ado, it means I adore this scent. It's on the sweeter side and it definitely approximates the cherry tobacco thing you find in Naxos, but this is much more focused on the musk like a late 90s fragrance, not the tonka focus of today.
