Description

Discovering that her long-term boyfriend cheated on her, she ends up drunk insulting the King of Fae - Torin.

It wasn’t really developed that much because of some ~events~ I refuse to spoil about, but it wasn’t annoying in my eyes, so it gets a thumbs up from me! I'm a big fan of traditional fae lore, where we have a separate faerie realm with Seelie and Unseelie courts.Join my Readers’ Club and as a thank you, you can download Mine to Keep, the prequel to my debut novel The Butterfly Storm, for free. The authors take the orthodox, calm and clear positions that I’ve come to expect, but do so in a winsome and readable way – I wonder if this would be a good book for American friends to read, and to ponder giving to those (not all) who are ‘deconstructing’ and wondering if ‘evangelicalism’ has anything to offer. It’s all about trusting the author to make a story as believable and verisimilar as possible – and I quickly lost my trust here.

And when the murdered boy’s sister goes missing, Frost and Waters must work together to find her – before it’s too late. Then Frost’s prime suspect hangs himself in his cell, leaving a note blaming Frost for driving him to suicide. There's also a little side romance blooming, and I can't wait to see where both of these relationships go. As Torin helps her maneuver through the bride trials, she is met with snarky rivals and a mysterious assassin intent on plucking off the competition.

I know there are many positive reviews for this one but I personally found a lot of flaws in it that made the book simply boring and unoriginal for me. Moving toward him, she noticed that every time she took a step closer, he took a step back, his display of hostility quickly breaking down.I don't like / won't read zombie books, but I decided to make an exception with this book because: robots! Frost finds himself drawn into an unsolved crime from the past and risks not only his career, but also his life. I adored how bloody and brutal the bride contest was and though I had an inkling of what Ava’s origins were going to be revealed as I still enjoyed this immensely.

We were reading it together and it’s a pretty interesting story, with some plot twists and well written. For one thing, King Torin professes to loathe Ava which is the whole reason he picks her for the trials but, honestly, it never shows. With classics such as Ted Hughes's The Iron Man and award-winners including Emma Carroll's Letters from the Lighthouse, Faber Children's Books brings you the best in picture books, young reads and classics.
