Definitely has grit but can get muddy too, sounds its best with a good boost pedal and a fair amount of compression, good for that Tool type of sound however if you want something which breaks up more I'd definitely look into the Joyo Uzi or Biyang's Tonefancier distortion range for that extra crunchiness.
