Others have noticed the similarity to Drambuie -I can see where they're coming from, and there is a similar trend, but even by the standards of whisky liqueurs, this is, sans mixing, diabetes-inducingly sweet. This liqueur combines 5-year-old Scotch whisky with a variety of botanicals that include ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. The toffee becomes cinder toffee as vanilla builds, backed up by green, leafy herbal notes of tarragon.

Using 5 year old whisky which has been fully matured in Sherry casks ensures a rich and fruity flavour. It was a separate company with its own blending, bottling and warehousing in South Queensferry, and officially incorporated in 1924. Anyway, I then tried it with hot water, honey, orange juice and a few other things in various combinations and amounts, and the results were often very good. Opening the bottle presents your nostrils with a weak smell of whisky, which was surprising as I was expecting a stronger smell.
