As a fan of analog tone, I’ve always loved the decaying repeats of a nice, warm analog delay but I’ve always felt let down by short delay times or overly-muddy tone.

I was amazed by how naturally this pedals sits in the mix with a full band and also how it plays well with other pedals. All done by a completely analog audio path for authentic rich, warm analog delay—made possible only by old-school analog bucket brigade technology. I don't think this pedal is as versatile as some of the other digital delays but it does deliver a nice mellow analog delay to complement a clean or dirty signal. So the solution is to put the CC in the (parallel) FX loop, so the distortion comes before the delay. Overall this unit really fattens up the steel tone and does for standard guitar what an echoplex would in my application as far as straight slapback echo.

The MXR M169 Carbon Copy Analog Delay is a contemporary delay pedal with roots deeply planted in the classic tape echo tones of the past. For players looking to get their feet wet with delay, the Carbon Copy has served as an easy choice for years, earning its spot in the pantheon of modern pedalboard standards. Even when set to max for some more chaotic feedbacking sounds, the tone stays warm and true, echoing the glow of an old tape delay.

The MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay features a completely analog audio path for the ultimate in rich, warm delay made possible only by old-school bucket brigade technology. We're celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Carbon Copy Analog Delay with this special edition featuring a lightweight aluminum housing with a metallic silver finish. The Carbon Copy Bright, while not as atmospheric, produces a much brighter delay sound, more true to the input signal.

Even true hardwire bypass effects stomp boxes (of which this is) still suffer losses from the added cables needed to wire them in.

This design boasts an amazing 600ms of delay time with optional modulation via a top-mounted switch and a simple, three-knob layout that controls Delay time, Mix (dry/wet blend), and Regen (delay repeats)-all in a pedal no bigger than a Phase 90. It is not the most versatile delay pedal out there, but It is sure to add some beautiful ambience to your playing and thicken up your guitar solos.
