It was the perfect time killer cute and fun, despite having little substance and not too long to get boring. As a big fan of novels based on Greek mythology, I was very excited to read Alexandra Sheppard’s debut, Oh My Gods.What I loved about Oh My Gods was that Sheppard had centered such a unique voice to tell this story. I was simply unable to put the book down as I quickly turned the pages, desperate for Helen to find a way to save herself and her family. Because I can see that for teenagers this book will allow them to really empathise with the characters and the language used.

Nate - A chaos magician who is shown to be more level-headed than many of the other recurring characters.However, there were just too many things that felt forced for me to overlook - some of the writing made it seem like the author was trying too hard to make it sound like a teen was narrating, and not all of the characters were fully fleshed out for me to understand their actions or motivations. I think it seemed a little rushed and unplanned to me, for example, near the beginning Phoebe's mum tells her that shes marrying this guy that she's known for six days and moving to Greece. If anyone finds out who they really are, they’ll be stripped of their powers and lose their immortal status while Helen will be forced to spend the rest of her life on Mount Olympus. Damian Petrolas, Phoebe's stepfather, marrying Phoebe's mother near the beginning of the book and Stella's biological father. Sheppard has gone for the older-younger sister dynamic, with Aphrodite constantly stressing her superiority and exploiting Helen as a guinea pig for her new skincare products.
