Description

There wasn't a whole lot of character development with the Three Dahlias, although we learned a bit more about Rosalind. Whilst this follows on from the first book where we are introduced to the Three Dahlia’s this can be easily read as a standalone murder mystery novel. Although I am sure that she was invited to Aldemere in the last book to promote the movie, as she was also part of it. In this latest addition to the Dahlia Lively series, A Very Lively Murder, the three Dahlias, Caro, Rosalind, and Posy, are reunited once again and back sleuthing on the set of The Lady Detective when it quickly becomes apparent that there’s a murderer amongst the cast when threats, victims, accidents, and dead bodies all start piling up. And the plot is a light, quirky tale full of misdirection, deduction, clues, mishaps, drama, friendship, amateur sleuthing, red herrings, and murder.

Example two: As the story progresses, you slowly start thinking that these women are delusional and are having some sort of mental problems, where they think they are Dahlia. The plot is well concieved, and has several layers - and there is a good cast of characters (literally, as the action is centred around the filming of a movie). We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. So in cases like these, you forgive the debut mistakes and if it's worth it, you focus on the positive.I really enjoyed being reunited with the characters from the first book again and meeting some new ones too although I did get some of the supporting film cast mixed up at times. But things take a nightmare turn when a prop weapon is replaced with the real thing - with almost fatal consequences for her fellow Dahlia, Rosalind King. Rosalind is coming to terms with now being reduced to cameo roles and Caro is thinking about a future outside of acting. This is the second book in the series as i have yet to read the first i really enjoyed it, i do not think you have to read the first to enjoy this story but i will go back and read the first.

I discovered this series about two weeks ago and since then I devoured the first book in the series (The Three Dahlias), the fun Christmas short story (Dahlias Decks the Halls), and now the second book, (A Very Lively Murder). After a lot of pages of- nothing-happenings and Rosalind being threatened, but won't go to the police -later (which is around 168 pages or half mark of the book) we finally get the first body dropped. Maybe that's why I didn't like this one as much as the first, none of the characters stood out to me, not even the Three Dahlias. The way she is described in the first book and until the page where they visit Brigitte in London, that lady never touched a biscuit - if anything, Caro would be the one hoping for biscuits with tea.The book follows on from the first book in this series, The Three Dahlias and there are several references to the events in the previous book. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my review. Though the author, Kath Watson, is careful to provide sufficient details without giving away the entire plot. Especially, because in the last two chapters, they build up Nina as being the perfect suspect with a very valid motive, but then Watson decides that she wants to dabble with twists and throw in one that doesn't make sense, so it's revealed that it was Tristan all along (The charismatic young actor, who is good looking to the level where he even seduces the wife of the Inn owner) And why?

This one is set in a big house in Wales where the filming of the new detective movie featuring 1930s detective Dahlia Lively is taking place. Rosalind, the original Dahlia, Caro whose Dahlia was the star of the successful TV series, and Posy who is bringing Dahlia to a new generation. I enjoyed the first book in the series and loved coming back to some of my favorite characters… I will be waiting with bated breath for the third installment.I love the intertwining of film, books and Hollywood style life in this series, the little references to the Dahlia Lively books that begin each chapter are a lovely touch.
