Les personnages et les intrigues sont bien développés, on s'attache à ce village et à ses habitants. The fifth novel in Julia Chapman's delightful cozy mystery series featuring Samson O'Brien and Delilah Metcalfe, the Dales Detectives. Written in 1862, and described more recently as the original Gone Girl, this was a massive success in its time. It feels like a warm bath and coming home, but also quite a dark, intriguing mystery that seamlessly blends in cases like missing buckets and stoles laundry with some serious harrowing storylines.I loved Delilah and Samson together, they turn out to be a really good combo – good for each other and their business. The former special forces officer is heading to Europe, to go face to face with some of Putin's most killer henchmen! I’m so happy I got into these cozy mysteries, they are delightful and the character development is spot on!

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.

All of the elements of a standard cosy crime novel are present in this latest instalment of the Dales Detective. But with Samson O'Brien still in London helping the Met Police clear his name, and the newly appointed member of the investigations team, Ida Capstick, distracted by her brother George's insistence that their farm is haunted, Delilah Metcalfe is struggling to meet the mounting demands for the agency's services.

I have a confession to make before I start this review – I love Bruncliffe and all its inhabitants, I was itching to get back to the town. Caroline Roberts-Cherry, MD, Saffron Cherry Productions, said: “We are incredibly excited to be developing The Dales Detective for television. Julia Chapman is the author of the Dales Detective series, which follows the adventures of Samson O'Brien and Delilah Metcalfe as they solve cases in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Nantucket location of this series pulled me in; the crisp plotting, interesting cast and great female lead kept me hooked. The dialogue is funny, notably on the subject of the fledgling romance between Delilah and Samson, where everyone has an opinion and isn’t afraid to voice it, to much squirming and embarrassment from the recipients. Seen here six-months after becoming India's first female detective, she is trying to solve a murder against the tensions of post-partition. Samson O’Brien, who has been implicated in the murder of a man in Leeds faces some tough questions from the cops, as Delilah, his business partner, faces some criticism from her friends and family for her loyalty to the black sheep in town. Merry Folger, newly-promoted detective carrying the weight of coming from a long line of local police chiefs, is up against it in her first murder case.

The author does a fabulous job in drawing all the characters and the settings and if Bruncliffe was a real place I would definitely want to visit. There's so much work to be done on all the investigative, dating and web site activities that they enlist the help of Ida and a young trainee. The offices of the Slow Horses are as far from cosy as you can get – and that's even without adding their boorish, slovenly boss, Jackson Lamb, into the equation! In the seventh novel in Julia Chapman's charming Dales Detective series, Date with Betrayal, betrayal is rife in the idyllic Yorkshire Dales as Samson O'Brien, owner of the Dales Detective Agency, is targeted by a hitman.Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab . In the center of Yorkshire, the Dales Detective Agency is close to facing its largest challenge yet. The mother of Stuart, the young estate agent, is convinced: her son is not on vacation as everyone thinks, but has disappeared! in fact they were all leading up to this book which makes me hope that this is not the last that we hear from the Dales detective agency.
