Great book that shows even the fiercest warrior can get seasick and just because you look tough doesn’t mean you have to act tough all the time. I liked the introduction by Cowell, about how this is what started her crazy journey with the How to Train Your Dragon series.

Cute prequel to the How to Train Your Dragon Series; a good book for children who are shy, reluctant, or apprehensive about trying new things, to encourage them to face their fears and gain strength and courage from experiences. This is where how to train you dragon all started, there is a lovely introduction explaining how the idea all came about. Some may think that children's books are too small, simple, and menial to have an "Art," but that is just not true. There is a nice author's note at the beginning where Cowell talks about her relationship with her own larger-than-life, fearless father and how he inspired her writing.

An enjoyable book pitched at a much younger audience than ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ but with the same feel.

This wonderfully witty fable will delight all those who have ever faced up to their worse fears and is destined to become a children's classic. But his biggest fear is having to go to sea, and with the inevitable first voyage fast approaching, Hiccup is very worried indeed. Until, that is, Hiccup, despite his increasing seasickness, is forced to save the day when all the other Vikings turn out not to be quite as tough as they thought. She has a BA in English Literature from Oxford University, a BA in Graphic Design from St Martin's and an MA in Narrative Illustration from Brighton.In a few more years, DreamWorks Animation would create the colossal DreamWorks Dragons Franchise based off of and inspired by these Books. This is a perfect picture book for all children aged between three and six who love Vikings and watching grown-ups come unstuck! The whole thing has enough breezy, tongue-in-cheek energy to make this not only one of the more invigorating accounts of dealing with fear but also a humorously offbeat swashbuckler.

In fact, he was a little timid and worried a lot--and what worried him the most was going to sea for the very first time.Hiccup, The Viking Who Was Sick is an hilarious, heartwarming tale about a little boy facing his fears and getting to grips with the things he hates the most. Many years later the author would develop the characters of Hiccup and Stoick further into her 12-Book series, geared toward middle-aged and young teen children. Also the author of picture books, Cressida has won the Nestle Children's Book Prize 2006 and has been shortlisted for many others. I suppose the trip is supposed to show how Hiccup overcomes his fear; that although scared, he steers the ship back to safety when others aren't able to.
