If you have a big home, messy occupants, or want to save time, this is the Henry model to go for in our opinion. Its design features will keep you cleaning without pause, and it’ll cope admirably with all the dust, debris, and fur you need to remove from your home or car. In our review Lindsey gave it top marks for cleaning power and versatility, but bear in mind that it's heavy to lug up the stairs. Henry is the stalwart of this range: tough, durable and easy to use. There may be lighter and sleeker models available, but it is by no means too cumbersome and its impressive storage capacity, means you’ll have plenty of time before you need to change the bags. A: Harry, Henry, Henry Xtra, and Hetty, all come in at the same price point. You will find they are all the cheapest of the Henry vacuum cleaner range. In addition to the AiroBrush, the Xtra comes with a separate hard floor brush that you’ve guessed it, is great for cleaning those harder surfaces. This means that you have additional, specialist floor heads for cleaning both carpets and hard floors when you opt for the Henry Xtra. When you buy one of these machines you are buying a product that will stand the test of time. It won’t let you down. It will continue to run even when you can no longer do so. That’s a special thing in a brand. FAQ’s about the Henry Vacuum Range

As with all Numatic vacuums, the Harry is highly durable and relatively quiet. It's awkward to use on stairs or in tight spaces, although it makes up for this with a range of attachments and energy efficient motor. The Henry Xtra is still a great cylinder vacuum cleaner in its own right, but in our opinion if you’re choosing between the Xtra and Henry it’s only really worth the additional cost if you have pets that leave stubborn pet hair around the home. Overall, James comes with storage which is much needed by all. It doesn’t hold the full 9 litres that other models do, and it doesn’t have any special motors or filters added in. Arguably, you are paying extra for storage which you might not need if the vacuum itself didn’t come with so many attachments. When you weigh this as an option be sure to consider the high energy efficiency and neatness of design that makes it so great. The Henry vacuum cleaner range covers a number of price points. The more expensive models, like the George, do more things than the models that don’t cost as much. Adversely, the cheapest Henry Vacuum is likely to be the original version. You would think that you paid less for less dustbin capacity (like what you get with the James, where you sacrifice dustbin space for storage) but this isn’t the case. What is a Class Rating?

Best for Storage – would have to be the James, which has the extra compartment to contain the hundred or so tools that comes with it. One of the great aspects of this is its allergy retention, which is great for those of us who start sneezing every time the dust gets agitated. We have covered just about everything there is you need to know before you make your choice. The Henry vacuum cleaner range is extensive and iconic. There is a high chance that they will be the only thing to survive a nuclear explosion and still work. The main difference between the George and Charles is versatility. George has been designed for a variety of cleaning tasks, including dry vacuuming, extraction vacuuming (for cleaning carpets and upholstery) and wet vacuuming. If you want a powerful vacuum that can do it all, George is a great choice. However, while it’s designed for the wet, this also excels in the dry. An impressive 15 litre storage capacity when dry makes it an ideal option for professional cleaners, but it is also light at only 7.1kgs and will be easy to get around the home.

Henry’s little sister is Hetty. She comes with all the same features as Henry, but the introduction of Eco technology helps you to save the planet and your wallet at the same time. A smaller size means she’s easier to store, but a 9-litre bag capacity, means there’s plenty of dust storage room. In addition to the basic vacuum, the HVR200 comes with Numatic's AS1 stainless steel accessory kit. This includes extension tubes, soft brush and a harder cleaner. It’s not nearly as heavy as you would think for all those extras. It isn’t expensive, it doesn’t make much noise. A unique aero-brush is great if you have pets in the house. It provides an outstanding level of cleaning with carpets and is the perfect tool for cleaning up pet hairs, as well as those bits of pet food that don’t quite stay in the bowl and other edibles such as cat grass. A hard floor brush means it can continue cleaning on hard floor surfaces while a 10m power cable provides extensive reach. READ NEXT: The best cordless vacuum cleaners How to choose the right Henry vacuum for you 1. Henry: The compact, flexible choice If you love Henry (the vacuum) and you have pets, then the Henry Pet 200 would be an excellent shout for you since it has all the great features of a Henry with the added bonus of extra pet-friendly features. Our tester Jen found that it excelled as collecting hair left behind by her adorable guinea pigs. It's for sure one of the best vacuums for pet hair. It weighs only 8kgs, quite light for what it is, and looks reminiscent of the standard model except for the ‘Xtra’ which has been added into the design. It has a 9 litre dustbin capacity, much higher than other models and a perfect use of the extra space. It also comes with a patented Air-O brush which has been specifically devised for pet hair and which only comes with this model, the George 4-in-1, and the Harry. It has a wide range of attachments which are all aimed at making cleaning easier across the board.

There are a few downsides though. At 11kg, the George is heavier than other Numatic vacuum cleaners. This is expected from such a powerful and durable vacuum, but may make it less portable. It's also considerably more expensive than Charles.

The Henry Xtra is made with extra tools, one of which is the Airobrush tool, suitable for pet hair and for hard floors, alike. This model is intended to be more versatile than the original. Pull out the two clips on both sides that hold the top of the machine to the drum, then, using the handle lift off the machine top (POWER HEAD). Lift out the main white filter and remove the dust bag from the tube inside the drum. The genuine Numatic dust bag has a sealing tab, which allows you to keep the dust in the bag once full. Push the tab into the hole and dispose of the full bag. Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. Henry vacuums are many things: nostalgic, iconic and reliable. That's why you'll find them in homes up and down the country, as well as in the arsenal of many a professional cleaner. The Henry HV160 is the original Henry, and it's also the most affordable model you can buy from the brand. Since its original launch in the 1980s, the Henry vacuum range has been a staple of homes and offices. But as the range grows, which one is best for you?
