Description

The next best thing is the burst-fire assault rifle. It’ll deal roughly 30 damage per body shot, and its three-round burst means you can deal 90 damage in a single punch. If you land some headshots, you’ll rip a shielded enemy to shreds. The automatic M16 assault rifle is solid, and useful early on, but its bullet spread and lower damage mean that the SCAR and the burst rifle are the better choices later in the game. You should only really consider hanging onto the blue, Rare variant of the M16. Weapon Categories are not strictly defined by the game. However, there are categories which are definitively weapon categories, as the contents of the category, fit established weapon rules. Other categories have items which may be classed as weapons, but also contain some which are ambiguous, or not weapons at all (these will be specified).

A bit of a pointless addition when it was first introduced, the nerf to the Pump has left the door wide open for the Heavy to become the best shotgun in Fortnite. Available in Epic and Legendary rarities, you can shoot seven shells with the Heavy Shotgun before needing to reload it. Ammunition is used to reload many types of weapons. Ammunition can either be internal or external, with external ammunition being the most common. External ammunition is found as Floor Loot and used to reload weapons which use the corresponding ammo type: Medium Bullets: Used for weapons which deal a medium amount of damage per shot, such as most Assault Weapons and some Pistols. You wouldn’t believe that the Compact SMG has already been considerably nerfed if you use it now. At release, it was a bit of a joke and the most unbalanced weapon introduced to any competitive game. Nowadays it isn’t quite as strong, though it’s still more than capable of causing a lot of mayhem to opponents and structures. People are begging for it to be removed, and it’s easy to see why.

DMRs

If you play like me, you always want to have a close-range weapon in your inventory. While many prefer shotguns for such encounters, I've found the Compact SMG gives me a better chance of winning gun battles. Shotguns are brutal but slow, whereas the Compact SMG gives you a big magazine and almost unrivaled firing rate, meaning anyone who strays too close can be eliminated swiftly with plenty of the clip left over for their teammates. Kymera Ray Gun Although many shotguns do not need to be fully reloaded to fire, they still have their Reload Time listed as a full reload from an empty magazine.

The Minigun is able to positively shred through most structures and suppress the enemy until they either run out of mats or make a mistake. It’s very annoying to come up against thanks to it not having to reload; you only have to stop shooting when you run out of mini bullets, which are the most plentiful ammo in the game. For the love of Christ, though: don’t just stand out in the open when you’re using it. Below you'll see we've categorised all the guns in Fortnite into their respective classes, which you can peruse using the links below. The stats below are taken from a combination of patch notes, the Fortnite wiki, and our own tests. So let's get to it! The unofficial mascot of Fortnite has been having a tough time of it of late. As well as being constantly nerfed with the controversial double pump strat being taken out of the game seemingly for good, it’s also had some competition from other weapons to almost replace it, to make it not the only viable weapon for close-quarters. Despite all that, the Pump is still going strong. Heavy Bullets: Used for weapons which deal a high amount of damage per shot, like most Sniper Rifles and some Pistols.

Explosives

For more ways to play, you can heat up the battle with Fortnite gaming bundles for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Add some Fortnite style to your life with Fortnite accessories like headsets, bedding and keyrings. The higher the rarity, the more powerful the weapon. A Uncommon weapon of one type, may not be more powerful or harder to find than a Common version of another. The Heavy AR is a monster in terms of damage. It has the ability to shred an enemy at close, medium and even long range, but its accuracy means that, as with all assault rifles, you shouldn't just hold down the fire button until you run out of bullets. A slower rate of fire, slower reload time, and reduced magazine size all attempt to mitigate the sheer power of this gun, but the truth is a Blue Heavy AR is arguably worth taking over a Gold SCAR as things currently stand. Remember, flat damage is king in Fortnite, as long as you know how to use it.
