The first milestone in the creation of The Macallan AERA is the selection of the highest quality American and European oak. The precious oak is grown from a single acorn to a tree, transported from the woodlands of America and northern Spain to Jerez in southern Spain, where it is naturally dried for up to four years, hand-crafted into casks and seasoned for up to two years in Sherry wine, and turned into the finest sherry casks. If you are a whisky fan, you would know that only a select few Scotch whiskies is always held in high esteem. The Macallan falls into this category. Every year, over 700,000 bottles of whisky are sold globally. The brands bring about a sense of history, prestige and class. It is also synonymous with quality whisky, which is why its legacy has lasted for over a century! The magic starts in The Macallan distillery. Most of The Macallan’s best whisky is matured in oak sherry casks that are brought to the distillery from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. In 2004, a new product range was introduced by The Macallan as the Fine Oak series. In this series, the whisky is mellowed in bourbon oak casks and sherry casks.
