Description

You can use the built-in drum samples your module provides or use a drum plugin software like Addictive Drums.

Both traditional 5-pin MIDI ports and USB 2.0 will both transfer the same type of data. The only difference being that USB can offer bus-power. Easy for working in low-light environments, like being on stage. The display looks amazing and is easy to navigate. Full mixer for levels of each drum and cymbal While we still love this kit and you can't go wrong if you're in the market for a budget kit with great sounds, the 402 series is feeling (and looking) a little tired now, particularly since the launch of the new DTX6 series. We're hoping to see an overhaul of the range in the near future. They have similar functions and use, but feel is completely different. There are three primary reasons for buying an e drum kit: practicing, performing live, and recording.

The Alesis Strike Sound Module is fantastic when considering their other kits. This module is in another league. Alesis Strike Drum Module I say this because in all my time touring and playing, I have yet to encounter a drummer who exclusively plays an electronic drum set on stage at a professional level.

The TD-50X module itself is the latest and best module in the V-Drums line-up. It plays host to over 900 sounds which utilise Roland's Prismatic Sound Modelling engine and way more editing parameters to help you fine-tune the sound to your liking. It’s also possible to import your own samples via SD card. These can be allocated as a primary sample, triggered by a chosen source, or blended with other samples using the new ‘sub-instrument’ menu. The best electronic drum set for playing quietly is the Yamaha DTX10K-XRW. Yamaha’s textured cellular silicon drum heads that are FAR quieter than mesh drum heads. Recording an Electronic Drum Set S o how do you record one of these kits, anyway? It’s more simple than you may actually think. There’s a couple of ways to do it. Directly into the drum module If your electronic drum set is just for practice, then we’d say go for it. Trusting you can’t just make as much noise as you want with an acoustic set, an e-kit is as close to the real thing as you’ll get while keeping your neighbours or family happy. If it means you can put in more hours behind the kit, then we’re all for it. Roland’s VAD (V-Drums Acoustic Design) electronic kits are works of art. We’d expect nothing less from a Roland flagship, which takes cues from companies such as Pearl, Alesis and ATV by housing electronic pads in full drum shells.Practicing quietly is no problem and recording with MIDI is very easy now that we have USB connections. For the vast majority of drummers just looking to practice, it is just fine. snare and tom pads– standard sizes for kits in this price range, but too small for me to practice with. Great for young drummers just learning and deciding if they love the drums. Pro Tip: If your drum pad cables do not come as a sub-snake ( one cable with a connector on the ends), you may want to consider making what’s known as a ‘loom.’ Apps like Melodics also offer a way to learn how to play drums by connecting your kit to your computer, so be sure to give that a shot if you’re a new player. The Bad We go into way more depth on this topic in our how to record electronic drums feature. Can you play live gigs with an electronic drum set?
