Charon Ariti has been Hades’s right-hand man for years. He’s given everything to the lower city, but now he’s ready to take something for himself. Neither expect infamous beauty Helen Kasios to be part of the prize...or for the complicated fire that burns the moment she looks their way. We’re buying three dogs.” He pushes easily to his feet, the pup still cradled in his arms. “You should know by now that I can’t say no to you, Persephone. You turn those big hazel eyes on me, and I’m putty in your hands.” I was fully immersed in the world from the start of Neon Gods and I didn’t want to leave. It was pretty epic and I loved the combination of the traditional elements of Greek Mythology while also still being very modern.

I love the city. I love it all. I love its alleyways and its theatres, blaring white light into their moaning and shrieking faces. I love the pristine slums, scrubbed to the bone, like any self-respecting city should have. I love its ancient monuments, destroyed and cast again in metal, to be destroyed again and recontextualised in the future. I love it all. My desire to hear Hades’s dry, rasping laugh is becoming a serious addiction. It’s a thousand times better when he’s making the sound against my pussy. He drags his tongue over me. His growl is the only warning I get before he grabs my thighs and presses them up and out, holding me completely open. There is no savoring, no teasing, no tempting me. He goes after my pussy like he’ll never get this chance again. Like he needs my orgasm more than he needs his next breath.” I blink. It's so close to what I was thinking that it's almost eerie. "You are the strangest man I've ever met." I can barely believe that she’s mine. That she’s made me hers as surely as if she’d tattooed her name on my very soul.”As of 2023, there will be five published books in the Neon Gods/Dark Olympus series with one published novella. Katee Robert has ten books planned for the series thus far. Related Book Lists: Being a living idea created of human thought, the Neon God has no real appearance and it depends on how humanity see it. Rosie Hartlepool described the Neon God as a massive wall filled with yellow artificial lights, which formed unknown words, and countless cables connecting it to the other buildings. I get shivers just thinking of their interactions. SHIVERS."-Mimi Koehler for The Nerd Daily for Neon Gods

He was supposed to be a myth. But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell… he was, quite simply, mine. In terms of spice, Neon Gods has some steamy scenes but it’s more romance than erotica. Like they are described in some detail, but they are still on more of the tamer side in my opinion. Most of the spice in those scenes is in the build-up to them rather than the acts themselves. Once it gets to the actual sex most of the descriptions go out the window. It’s kept pretty basic and tame. Nothing wrong with that, but if you’re looking for something more descriptive this isn’t the book for you. And considering this book is about sex since that’s a major plot point, it seems almost odd for those things not to be described in detail. Not to mention there aren’t many sex scenes. Maybe I’m more used to Ruby Dixon’s works now that have a lot more sex scenes in them. But it’s just a thing to note going into this book.

I find that I sometimes struggle when delving into a new world, but I never felt out of place here. I always knew what was going on, what was happening and how things looked. As well as struggling with new worlds, I sometimes can’t imagine how the world or characters look. And while I did have a little trouble at first, it wasn’t long before I was pretty comfortable with where I was. In the city of Olympus, people only speak about Medusa in whispers. She’s Athena’s knife hand, the one sent when Athena wants someone to disappear. No one asks Medusa what she wants, but she owes Athena her life, and if staining her hands with blood is the only way to repay the debt, it’s a small price to pay. I get shivers just thinking of their interactions. SHIVERS."—Mimi Koehler for The Nerd Dailey for Neon Gods

There's nowhere more dangerous than Olympus...and no one more captivating than its golden god: Apollo. Keeper of secrets, master of his shining realm...and the only man I am powerless to deny.

The Neon God was originally envisioned as another Proposal for SCP-001 titled "The Neon God They Made", but the author Tufto was unsatisfied with it as he described it as a simple horror story and deleted it. He eventually rewrote the concept of the original Proposal into the Scarlet King, while in SCP-7005 he expanded on the Neon God by making the story about, existentialism, finding and giving yourself a meaning in the face of desperation. Hades finally smiles and, good gods, it’s like being hit by a laser beam. Heat strong enough to make my fingertips tingle and curl my toes. I stare up at him, caught in the intensity of those dark eyes. And then he’s shaking his head, smothering the rush of strangeness through my body. “No.” “What do you mean, no?” “I’m aware that you’ve likely not heard the word often in your privileged life, so I’ll spell it out for you. No. Nein. Nyet. Non. Absolutely not.” My whole body goes heavy as the truth settles in my bones. I love this woman. I have to steel myself to keep from doing exactly what I said, from dropping to my knees and begging her to stay.”

What starts out as a mutually beneficial deal—Hades will grant Persephone safe haven and she in turn will do everything in her power to make Zeus jealous about her new alliance…and romance with Hades, his bitter rival—turns into the love story of a lifetime as the protective walls these two have built around them crumble and the world’s grandest power couple is born. With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed a myth. Hades has spent his life in the shadows, planning his revenge against Zeus. If we were different people in different circumstances, I would get down on my knees and beg you to stay at the end of the winter. I would move heaven and earth and the Underworld itself to keep you with me.” The Neon God was so far successful in converting countless worlds into one connected city while the inhabitants either tried to flee or succumbed to it, leaving them as lifeless people who simply lived in the newly formed city. The SCP Foundation's Department of Interdimensional Logistics of the "main" universe became aware of the Neon God's existence after gaining the control of SCP-7005, but didn't act immediately as it would require millennia to reach their universe. Despite this, the Foundation still took in numerous refugees while attempting to study the nature of the Neon God.

But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell…he was, quite simply, mine. One of my favourite conversations in Neon Gods– is when Hades and Persephone are talking about consent and safewords. Not only does it make me happy that this conversation takes place, but it adds to the sexiness of the book. Psyche didn't expect to find herself married to the glittering city's most dangerous killer, but something about Eros wakens a fire inside her she's never felt before. As lines blur and loyalties shift, Psyche realizes Eros might take her heart after all...and she's not sure she can survive the loss. Orpheus Makos will do whatever it takes to make things right.
