Thanks to them, I got to spend the last day of my Easter holidays snuggled up with this, the second Cogheart adventure. Everything that ever was or would be, all mixed together in a soup of being; of shouting and jumping, moving and bumping. It follows a predictable, but enjoyable path that makes for a quick and exciting read: bad guy gets tangled up with the story’s heroes who must solve a mystery and save the day. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!

Storm clouds gather over Lily and Robert's summer when criminal mastermind the Jack of Diamonds appears.Beautifully written, fast-paced, funny and full of interesting characters that make you want to read on at the end of every chapter. This is the second book in the Cogheart series by Peter Bunzl and once again we are immersed in the totally believable steam-punk setting of Victorian England that he created in Book 1.

This is a story that can be read as a stand alone, though there are mentions of instances from the first book, it will in no way ruin this story for the reader. It also discusses what it means to be different, what family really is, how it feels to loose someone close to you, and if love also means trust. My personal view is that encouraging all children to find a love of books is key to their future well-being.The story is a Victorian era steampunk story that follows two kids Lily and Robert and Malkin (a mechanical fox). Peter grew up in South London in a rambling Victorian house with three cats, two dogs, one sister, an antique-dealer dad and an artist mum. Moonlocket is the second installment in the Coghearts series, but you don't need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. The surprises kept coming, and the author manages to weave emotion into the proceedings of the story and truly is laudable.

As usual, poor Malkin is trying in vain to keep the kids from getting into too much trouble but they don't listen and instead they are off on an adventure to London via airship. And especially the combination of violence, guns, family members, drowning and death is a combination that I don’t think should have happened in this middle grade. Despite that, I enjoyed it, and flew through it - as much as I can these days - so will be interested in reading another book in this series, if there ever is one. I love the way the clockwork technology in this story is woven into Victorian England, complete with mechanicals, hybrids, and history. We have a handful of new characters in this book, with most of the loved ones from the first book being retained as well (Captain Springer, Mrs Rust and the others, I'm pleased to report, were just as wonderful here).Such questions are not only important for him but for other young readers as well, and to see how brave Robert deals with these problems will hopefully inspire many a child. The characters are brilliant and the writing style is wonderful - Peter Bunzl has created a world I don't ever want to leave! The sequel to the hugely popular Cogheart, Bunzl reunites Lily, Robert and their mechanical fox, Malkin, for another action packed adventure.
