I was particularly moved by the final chapter charting the resurgence of 'Running Up That Hill' after it was used in Stranger Things, and the way young and new fans were discovering how great and, frankly, ahead of her time she was (a positive portrayal of same-sex love in 'Kashka from Baghdad', potential trans interpretation of 'Running Up That Hill' etc. He makes the fair point that it might not have suited Kate’s style of performance, but there’s only one way to find out and that’s take the opportunity!

And I’d be lying if I didn’t say that it all started with the teenage me - along with a generation of other teenage boys in the 70s and 80s – falling for the cute looks and leotarded curves. It wouldn’t be the last time her music would be used on something with its pulse on pop culture, although that particular coupling was still a few decades away. Running Up That Hill: 50 Visions of Kate Bush is a multi-faceted biography of this famously elusive figure, viewing her life and work from fresh and illuminating angles. The way this biography is woven together from past interviews, chats with her nearest and dearest and the author’s interviews and run-ins with the illusive chanteuse is fantastic.visions" does seem like it's going to be a very inventive radical new biography format, which it isn't really, but it still makes for an interesting read! Each of the 50 chapters represents a different 'vision,' a different aspect of Bush's life, and not all the visions focus solely on her music career. With an output of just ten studio albums over a career lasting more than three decades, she was recently introduced to a new generation through the use of her music on the TV series Stranger Things.

Also strangely missing are pictures: other than Kate’s pose on the dust jacket, there’s nothing in the text - no album covers, no video stills, no TV interviews, no live performances, no family snapshots and no candid pictures taken during Mr Doyle’s interview. He covers her childhood, the release of each album, the inspiration for some of the songs, the reactions of celebrities like David Bowie, Ian Rankin and Cher, and even his own experience interviewing his subject. Bush’s singularity makes fans feel like members of the biggest secret society in music, though it’s one they now share with the Gen Z-ers who discovered her last spring, when the 1985 single Running Up That Hill was featured on the Netflix series Stranger Things. Bo cenię ją jako artystkę, bo lubię czytać o osobach po utwory których sięgam statystycznie dość często. She thought it sounded like “a bag of cats”, but Lydon, who had just left the Sex Pistols, heard a fellow renegade.Running Up That Hill is a vibrant and comprehensive re-examination of Kate Bush and her many creative landmarks. Part wall of sound, part Herman Melville, Hounds of Love ( alongside Prince’s Around the World in a Day ) still remains one of the most left-field albums ever made by a chart-topping star. She tells him ‘maybe’, but then responds predictably by saying that the quality might have dropped if she’d made more. A Times Book of the Year An Uncut Magazine Book of the Year A Waterstones Music Book of the Year A Virgin Radio Book of the Year A Louder Book of the Year ‘Probably the best Bush book to date. She has also helped pave the way for artists to maintain creative control over their work in an industry that doesn't really support such a thing.
