I really liked this because it added layers to the story and we got to learn a bit more about each character and how everyone is connected. His dad, Red, is dying, and has one last wish: to see out his last days on earth in the family home, Hillcrest.

This is the first Jill Mansell book I’ve read and I enjoyed learning about Shay and Didi’s teenage romance, the cause of their break up and what happened when they met 13 years later.If you like flushed out reads with three-dimensional protagonists, and emotionally meaningful love stories w/ a dash of smut and spice: this book is not for you. Rekindling old flames, sweet second chance love stories are one of my favorites romance themes after enemies to lovers which always comes at the first place! It is one of those books that quietly drew me in and before I knew it, I turned the last page, the bubble popped and I realized that I had read it in one sitting and it was suddenly 2am. With Shay and Red back in Elliscombe, certain people are reminded of the unsolved crime that drove Shay away, and secrets they have been keeping for thirteen years.
