It’s been almost two weeks since I read this book; it still loves rent-free in my head and will be for a long time. Two apparent suicides are discovered but both are wearing wedding dresses so suspicions are raised that the deaths were in fact murders. Then there's a water leak the next day and she just sits down and screams bloody murder and stares into the distance while the water continues spraying out until her neighbor hears and snaps her out of it? Lottie has overcome a lot, but may be faced with her toughest challenge yet as she realizes her daughters and son are growing up. The case takes a darker turn that afternoon with another shocking discovery – the broken body of a second young woman, pushed from the roof of the hospital where she worked.

I am a regular reader of this series and enjoy it very much but for me this one was a little weaker than others. Soon Fiona Heffernan’s broken body is discovered pushed from the roof of the hospital where she worked.Lottie works herself ragged all day only to go home to more stress when dealing with her three kids at home and now an on/off relationship with Boyd.

It's so good to see Patricia Gibney back in form, with Irish DI Lottie Parker investigating a series of murders and a missing child without any of her own family being abducted or threatened (goodness knows, they've suffered enough in the past! She moves in a cottage next door to the hero Mark, who’s a firefighter and comes to her rescue more than once.

My spine doesn’t shiver, my blood doesn’t boil, and my heart doesn’t break when she share snippets and details. I have not gotten to any of the other books in the series until now and I want to kick myself for the delay.

Sure she’s investigating horrible murders, her kids constantly remind her that she is never there when they need her, and her romantic life has hit a snag (Boyd is keeping a secret), but for once she is attempting to deal with her issues vs. However, I have to say that this book reignited my love for this series and I am looking forward to book 8! I was pretty irritated when I finished book 6, suggesting that perhaps it was time to wrap up the Parker series. I liked the way the characters started off independent of each other only to be gradually linked together. Some events didn’t make sense to me, and around the 80% mark the book lost me for a while, becoming a bit unbelievable. My heart isn’t pounding in stucco when she’s overwhelmed by everyday people around her, just for being too close, too loud, too normal. Writing is intelligent, sophisticated and thought-provoking, establishing Foyle's personality with so much depth already and providing some tense and heart-tugging moments. The case takes a darker turn that afternoon with another shocking discovery - the broken body of a second young woman, pushed from the roof of the hospital where she worked. And I found her kids incredibly frustrating as well when they should have been drawn together, particularly after the last case.

Michael Kitchen is truly superb as Foyle, subtle, intensely determined, commanding and above all human. The nail-biting new book in the beloved Detective Lottie Parker series by million-copy bestseller Patricia Gibney. And let's be honest, no matter how safe you feel with someone you just met, is there not one part of you that keeps you even a little wary? No Lottie Parker review would be complete without talking about her relationship with her colleague Boyd, they are so close but appear further apart than ever in Broken Souls. I haven’t faced what the female protagonist has faced (and may no one have to go through it), just that at some point, we're all trying to heal in some way or the other.Initially I found it hard to concentrate on as the narrative switches between several characters who have little discernible relevance but many of the links soon become clear and I quickly settled in. If someone in Ragmullen were to be murdered on December 24, though, she'd not be around for her kids and grandson until the new year. They may also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. When Lottie takes a case into her own hands the consequences are more deadly than she could have ever imagined .
