Description

Equipped with an anti-glare coating and auto-dimming technology, it enhances visibility by reducing glare from headlights of vehicles behind you during night driving. Not only does it provide accurate location tracking for your recorded footage, but it also allows you to review your route and speed.

Not sure if this is a faulty device, but I’m having to sacrifice having the mirror wonky and rotated to account for the front cam being aligned. Having the GPS facility all in the app was really helpful as I normally run the sat nav through my phone when on long journeys. Many other dashcams available are cheaper, not sure I would pay extra for the connectivity and other features personally but a good gadget to have and on reflection it may be worth the GPS and speed tracking information. After each trip, the Halo Pro saves the data in a GPX file which can be reviewed in the Halo app or downloaded to your computer and opened in an app like Garmin Basecamp or even Google Maps. I've seen other reviews where users are complaining about the app, so hopefully Road Angel are engaging with real users of this dashcam to improve it.

Voice announcements let you know when the camera’s filming and when it’s got a GPS lock, but if you want any actual control you’ll have to connect to it using the Road Angel app. Inserting and removing these cards - and their general unreliability - really holds back most dashcams and makes them more difficult to handle, but not this one! I have seen a few dash cams that friends have so I was a little wary as I have always thought they looked a bit clunky and I didn’t think the picture quality was always that great. The fact that you can preview it on your phone as well as having the double storage and facility to download it surprised me from the moment I linked it to my phone. The App was easy to install and I was able to easily adjust the angle of both cameras to ensure the best field of view both front and rear.

As it doesn’t have a display, the Road Angel Halo Pro is nice and shallow, hugging the windscreen and taking up minimal space. The camera/wiring kit has a variable voltage cut-off, meaning the car battery will never run flat, when installed correctly. This means Ultra High Speed and is represented by a number, usually U1 or U3, U3 is rated at 30MB/s per second and is more suitable for high-res continuous video footage. I’m not a fan of the app since it’s not intuitive at all (and the typo on the Settings page didn’t instill a lot of confidence).

Like the Ultra, the Halo Pro comes with a cigarette power lead that uses a strange, custom USB-C connector. I feel much better now having the security the Halo Pro Dashcam provides for my vehicle both on and off the road.Tow Vehicle: 2013 Land Cruiser 200, 32” LT tires, airbags, Safari snorkel, Maggiolina Grand Tour 360 Carbon RTT. I replaced the audio in the videos to save viewers from having to listen to me singing along with my favorite driving songs.
