I was hoping that we would get a slow build up of the enemies to friends to lovers, but by the time I was halfway through the book and they still hated each other, I knew I wasn't getting it.The whole plot was too easy and convenient, I predicted everything and wasn't surprised in the slightest at what's happening. The cover is pretty, but because it's a hardcover copy without a sleeve, it isn't subtle in it's queerness and is potentially dangerous for some people– especially considering that the blurb on the back is much less of a blurb and more so a quote from a sex scene that makes it very obvious what sort of content is inside this book. There were so many things that I didn't like about it that before the ending arc started, I was going to give this book three stars. It ends with Faenir threatening to kill people again and because of this, the two groups coming to an agreement to save both worlds.Not only that, but there’s a complete 180º turn at some point and it turns into complete insta-love. I believe this was my first book with elves so I was more nervous as to whether I would like it or not but my worries melted away as I kept reading. Like, when I read the very last sentence of King and completely finished the book, I did brust out laughing. I loved the first book in the series so much that I've re-read it, which is rare for me, so I was hotly anticipating the next in the series.
