So like me you are probably an amateur photographer with delusions of grandeur and have been trying to work out how much more zoom do you get for your money and compared to the 18-55mm kit lens. pincushion distortion has replaced the barrelling, which may become noticeable when straight lines are paramount. This value is achieved when: DX-format lenses are attached to a DX-format digital SLR camera and zoom lenses are set at the maximum telephoto position.

The focus ring also rotates during autofocus, and although it is recessed I caught my fingers on it a couple of times during use, so care needs to be taken to ensure fingers aren't snagged during focusing. Take a look at the table below comparing features with a selection of other fantastic DX-format lenses in the collection. My present state of mind is blogging my heart out and sharing all the experiences and memories that I have been collecting from my travels. ED VR, with its High Refractive Index (HRI) lens element and 2 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements, lets you easily capture far off images, bringing all the action up close. As the lens is zoomed to 135mm, the resolution drops off a little, but is still very good across the frame from wide open, reaching its peak at f/5.the HRI element offers effects equivalent to those obtained with several normal glass elements and can compensate for both field curvature and spherical aberrations. I’m surprised to see how well the lens does at 105mm – all corners look pretty sharp with no difference between the crops. Most of the outer parts are plastic – contributing the light weight of the lens –, but the optical elements are made of high-grade glass.

Like all Nikkor lenses the VR switch works well and you are going to need it if you're taking photos hand held. Acceptable condition - Scratches visible when holding the device 30 centimeters away and perceptible to the touch. After recieving this lens, I did some tests and got to say this big plasticky piece of glass is not to be underestimated and is a terrific performer. Without VR, it's usually impossible to get sharp hand-held shots with lenses this small and light, and with this much magnification. They mention that it is great for close-ups and macros, and the clarity and detail in the image is quite impressive. They mention that the VR function works superbly, it works well with auto and manual focus, and it works fine hand-held. The biggest help is when you use any of these links when you get anything, regardless of the country in which you live. In terms of focal lenghts this lens is a star performer from 55-200mm with almost no chromatic aberration, very sharp and good image quality overall (contrasty images), after 200mm to 300mm image quality decays a bit in terms of sharpness and contrast but it's still good and usable, chromatic aberration is slightly more noticeable at 300mm, viewing the image at 100%. It is an ideal lens to be used for family events and vacations to capture distant subjects, and the use of Vibration Reduction (VR) technology makes it easier to get sharp photographs at slower shutter speeds, especially when shooting at 300mm.
