Converse with the Unconscious: Hananoi goes to wake up Hotaru who has fallen asleep on his bed, but she's out cold. He tells her if she doesn't wake up he'll kiss her and in her half-asleep state she replies that she wouldn't mind. So he does. For a while. And Hotaru sputters awake embarassed. Chapter 33 - Our First School Festival (1) • Chapter 34 - Our First School Festival (2) • Chapter 35 - Our First School Festival (3) • Chapter 36 - Our First School Festival (4) Morino launched the manga in Kodansha's Monthly Dessert magazine in December 2017. Kodansha will publish the manga's 13th compiled book volume on June 13. The manga has over 3.8 million copies in circulation. What to Expect from A Condition Called Love A Condition Called Love | Image Courtesy of Kodansha USA Oh, he implied he wanted to be rapey again (in my house, with my parents home), but didn't and that's cause he is a good guy who loves me.

But even all his early relationships were superficial, because he didn’t actually love the girls he dated. I love the chapter where Hananoi tells Hotaru about his previous relationships and they share a more passionate kiss; it really just shows how Hananoi feels actual love for Hotaru and wants to share a deeper (while still appropriate) connection with her. I also appreciate that Hotaru is a smart and mature girl who is not afraid to experience her firsts and grow in her relationship with Hananoi!Chapter 25 - Getting Ready For Our First School Fair • Chapter 26 - My First Idol • Chapter 27 - Our First Day At The Pool • Chapter 28 - His First Brush with a Condition Called Love facts about a Japanese gem, manga, would be a big loss for you. There are many reasons why there are I also love that the female lead in this manga figures out how to match his energy in her own way, and they start off their trial-dating on the right foot. I appreciate that she isn’t easily being swept off her feet but instead learns how to understand what dating is like and why it’s fun. She doesn’t act all embarrassed or nervous about simple things, and is actually great at taking steps into dating activities. She tries to take the lead and do her part in the relationship!

I'm loving all the new shoujo coming out. They're adorable and I always need more in my life! Thank you to Dija for always talking about this manga, because it made me want to read it. When I found out Kodansha was publishing it, I wanted the release date to arrive so I COULD READ IT FINALLY. THE WAIT WAS AAAAAH. But finally, your girl got it and read it... and yup, it's so cute and wholesome. I AM IN LOVE. At first glance, it's easy to mistake it as another shoujo manga romanticizing unhealthy and obsessive behaviors. I would definitely be wary of that if you're easily uncomfortable with that, or you've had bad situations relating to that. I don't blame you for steering clear of this manga. Mark your calendars, love birds, for the “A Condition Called Love” anime adaptation is set to premiere sometime in 2024. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, you can expect to find it streaming on major anime platforms like Crunchyroll and Funimation. Hotaru is a 16-year-old high school first-year who has always been ambivalent about love, preferring instead to have a lively life with her family and friends. So when she sees her schoolmate, Hananoi-kun, sitting in the snow after a messy, public breakup, she thinks nothing of offering to share her umbrella. But when he asks her out in the middle of her classroom the next day, she can't help but feel that her life is about to change in a big way … Another con in A Condition Called Love is that there are two side characters each with their own crushes that involve age gaps. The first being only a three-year age gap; but it’s still a college student falling for a high school student… which just feels kinda weird. These two characters individually are amazing and lovable, but I don’t think there needs to be a romance between them.

As Seen On

Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Hotaru's attentiveness and kindness are some of her most notable traits, though she isn't perfect and has her own past trauma she's trying to work through. Hananoi on the other hand doesn't seem to angst all of that much only because he's a perpetual Stepford Smiler who has buried his complexes so deep down it's hard for even those close to him to see. Doesn't change the fact that he's a loner by choice, Troubled, but Cute male lead. It’s pretty obvious from the start of A Condition Called Love that Hananoi has some attachment issues and an obsessive personality. I mentioned earlier that he gave me yandere vibes and kind of creeped me out at first (haha). There is also more information later revealed that makes his character seem even worse. Like, lots of red flags of being controlling when it comes to dating. ART STYLE IS 💯, the details are 😚👌✓ the plot is good! my expectations in a relationship went 📈📈📈✓ it's surreal and realistic at the same time because the characters really reflect people u might encounter in real life 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶‍♂️✓ the dialogues and internal monologues are also written well, 9/10 🥰 you get to know what goes on, what they thought about, and connects you to the character 🔛✓ PLOT TWISTS ARE INSAAAANE, they give foreshadowing a bit, but y'all can't expect it 😵 I was SHOOKT, in an ineffable way lol It is within this context that a peculiar encounter unfolds, forever altering the trajectory of her existence. On March 8, 2020, Kodansha USA announced they would publish the series digitally. [8] During their panel at Anime Expo 2022, Kodansha USA announced that they would begin publishing the manga in print in Q2 2023. [9] Volume list [ edit ] No.

Chapter 9 - Our First Night Together • Chapter 10 - Our First Taste Of Jealousy • Chapter 11 - Our First Valentine's Day • Chapter 12 - The First Time I Said It Holding Hands: One of the few things Hananoi tells Hotaru he wants to do with Hotaru in the beginning is to walk to school while holding hands. She happily obliges. He then says another red flag: "if you do end up letting me tie you down, then I win." And literally the next scene is the girl basically saying to her friend, wow, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I am still in this questionable relationship. (Listen to your gut girl, RUN). Followed immediately by a scene where main character's friends meet this guy and find him creepy. RED FLAG. Decon-Recon Switch: Of Dogged Nice Guy. Hananoi is determined to make the object of his affection fall for him and does so by exhibiting extreme selflessness, going out of his way to do whatever it takes to fulfill and conform to his partner's wishes (or what he thinks she wishes), at the cost of his own desires and interests. The manga shows how such a love is actually burdensome to the partner, and Hananoi goes through girlfriends like tissue papers as each one gets fed up with his overbearing form of love. One even shows up later on in the story to tell Hotaru how Hananoi became so controlling and possessive, she had to break up with him. That said, Hotaru is able to understand that Hananoi does mean well, even if he's misguided, and that his desire to see his partner be happy can be a positive thing if done in moderation. In fact, it is Hananoi's attentiveness that ultimately sways her feelings fully towards him. Please, Don't Leave Me: After Hotaru tells Hananoi to stop being accomodating to a fault and to assert his needs and desires more, she asks him what it is that he would like her to do. He tells her that he wants her to never leave him.

Manga

I really really love this manga. It has a lot of sweetness and fluff for sure, but it's definitely a lot deeper than it lets on. I have a lot of joy of seeing them work through their relationships, both past and present, and I really am excited to see what new development happens next. Morino launched the Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty manga in Monthly Dessert in 2014, and the manga ended in its sixth and final volume, which released in July 2017. Kodansha USA Publishing released the manga in English. Morino's My Fair Neighbor manga serialized in Monthly Dessert from August 2013 until January 2014. In the wake of this unexpected revelation, Hotaru finds herself caught in a whirlwind of emotions, a tempest of conflicting thoughts and sensations that envelop her very being. The series is written and illustrated by Megumi Morino. It premiered in the February 2018 issue of Dessert, which shipped on December 22, 2017. [4] The first volume was released on May 11, 2018. It's probably not a good sign when your reaction to the romance in a romance book is "Oh my god, girl, run away!!!" Chapter 21 - Our First Love • Chapter 22 - Our First Postscript • Chapter 23 - Our First Sports Fest • Chapter 24 - My First Cheering That Hananoi-kun is really gentle, that he gives it everything he's got that sometimes he gives too much and he ends up doing weird things, that he likes books, that he is good at teaching others, that when he walks, he does it at the same speed as me. Though out the plot hotaru tries her best to integrate Hananoi into her social group despite his coldness towards them and his attempt to isolate Hotaru from her friend group, which doesn’t work Healing means giving yourself some space as well. Set some boundaries and adhere to them. You’ll want to text them, call them, follow them on social media but here you need to be firm with yourself and avoid these situations. 4. Give Yourself TimeIt initially threw me off in the first volume, because the male lead Hananoi, was throwing out all kinds of red flags...he fell in the love with our FMC Hotaru immediately after a kind gesture, he takes emotions to the extreme and is totally self-destructive (in the name of love). He is also generally unkind or unfriendly to anyone accept Hotaru. My first reaction was, "Oh god PLEASE don't let the author paint this behavior as romantic or healthy," because shojos have a tendency to pain unhealthy behaviors as romantic. Hotaru's very first reaction to his extreme nature made me much more hopeful though, as she immediately tries to set him straight by telling him he shouldn't be doing these kinds of things. It's dangerous to place all of your hopes and happiness on a single person like Hananoi does, because you then 1) make them responsible for your feelings and 2) make yourself isolated and much more likely to get hurt when they inevitably can't live up to your super high expectations. On one hand, she's smart enough to know how to set clear boundaries and tell him when he's doing something wrong, but it's her first relationship, she shouldn't have to be the more mature person here, I feel. The main characters in shoujos are often written to be perfect with occasional small mistakes; it was exciting to see characters written with big mistakes and bigger negative feelings like real people actually act. They learn from it over time and grow as individuals.
