Description

There are plenty of book options about wonders of the world for juvenile. What makes "Wonders of the World" stands out are: What this book sets out to do, and what it does very successfully, is to inspire your readers with a sense of the diversity of our planet and its wonders, both man-made and natural. It also provides a true sense of what travel is for as we see those young adventurers meeting local people and joining in with them in a wide range of different activities." ( Books for Keeps) I was very glad to see my two favorite places in the world—The Alhambra in Spain and the Glowworm Caves in New Zealand—make the list. Throw in the Charles Bridge in Prague, Petra, Chichen-Itza, Torres del Paine, and Ludwig’s Castle and I’m completely happy with this. The drawing for that last one is particularly well-detailed, but on the other hand the Alhambra left a bit to be desired, since I know it so well. Some of my favorite wonders discussed were the Marianna Trench, Mont St. Michel, Neuschwanstein and the Northern Lights. Each wonder was so extraordinary in their own right, and reading about them was fascinating. In many cases, I even learned things about wonders I thought I was familiar with. Take the adventure with you with this new Travel Edition of the critically acclaimed Atlas of Adventures, which brings together more than 100 activities and challenges from every corner of the globe to inspire adventurers of any age.

Lucy Letherland’s stunning artwork brings these wonders to life in all their awesomeness, with a real sense of their scale and history. Oh, oh, oh, oh, OHHHHH this is a geographical treat, a global spectacle, a truly earth-shattering view of planet earth ." This is a lovely resource for any primary school and a brilliant book for any child to pore over at home, learning about far-flung palaces, natural wonders and no doubt inspiring a love of travel and geography. The book also encourages an interest in design and architecture (looking at the Taj Mahal, described as the most beautiful building on earth), mythology and culture (Uluru and Easter Island), archaeology (Petra) and a variety of other areas. Whether you're visiting the penguins of Antarctica, joining the Carnival in Brazil or taking a canoe safari down the Zambezi River, this book will take young travellers on whole host of fascinating adventures across the continents. The strength of the book is in the collaboration between he author and illustrator; the research of the many quirky elements of our planet will appeal to the budding explorers and anthropologists, geographers and biologists... This is a superb resource for any classroom attended by 4 year olds and older children.’Atlas of Adventures, our new favourite book’ - ‘ What I love about the book is that is doesn’ t just show you a picture of a city or place, but it allows the reader to experience what it would be like to be there... It’ s also filled with fun and engaging illustrations and interesting facts about every destination... Atlas of Adventures is the first book out from a new imprint called Wide Eyed Editions which we are really excited about.’ Lucy Letherland's handsome Atlas of Adventures is an illustrated list of activities around the world, each inspiring, detailed scene annotated with facts.’ The STUNNING illustrations. And the graphics are even more impressive in the "Wonders of World." Before reading the text, I was in awe of all the graphics- realistic, artistic and well rendered. Be sure to pay attention to all the tiny people around the landmarks; there are local people mingle with the tourists. Few landmarks even have ancient people building the wonders or hanging around with the modern tourists. Cute! An inspiring book that will encourage the reader to find out more about the countries and encourage them to travel to see them for themselves. The generous size makes it great to share - excellent in the classroom. This is the debut title from Wide Eyed Editions, a new imprint of Quarto Books - I can't wait to see what comes next!’ This is a fantastic addition to a world geography and cultural study unit, especially for your-mid elementary school age students. As a homeschooler, this could easily be one of the foundational books I could use in our "around the world" studies.

Atlas of Adventures: Travel Edition’ is a wonderfully colourful journey around the globe, allowing the reader to discover the many adventures they might have without leaving their living room. From the team behind the best-selling Atlas of Adventures comes this awe-inspiring journey of discovery. Showcasing the globe's most impressive landscapes, iconic buildings and evocative antiquities from both the modern and ancient worlds, this is the most wonderful Atlas adventure yet!

Barefoot Books World Atlas

This is exactly the kind of book that grabs my attention: a clear title (with a gorgeous font), and a beautiful visual sampling of what the reader will find inside the book. After perusing the cover, the delight continues with a beautiful world map with representative illustrations of animals or landmarks of each continent. The table of contents is divided into Continents and their respective wonders. A great complement to any world history or geography study. I've found myself a bit surprised by how popular non-fiction books are with the elementary/middle grade gang. What with Harry Potter and all that you sometimes overlook the interest kids have in space, geography, STEM titles, and even history and biography. So, books like this aren't merely an eat-your-spinach nod by publishers to good reading; they are popular and well liked. It encourages curiosity, understanding and tolerance and nurtures a love of the world around us.’ – The Bookbag, on Atlas of Adventures Another wonderful addition to the "atlas" series published by Wide Eyed Editions. I have been in love with the series since their first book and I have adored every publications since. "Wonders of the World," again, does not disappoint and I highly recommend any parents to consider adding this book to their libraries.
