Basically, if you had the Boombox 2, while a friend had the original Boombox, you would have no way of pairing them together because PartyBoost uses different protocols. While you could do the same type of speaker pairing like you could with Connect+, this speaker can only do it with those also supporting PartyBoost.

With a 20,000mAh rechargeable battery, the JBL Boombox 2 boasts a 24-hour battery life. The speaker’s battery life is estimated at 6.5 hours of charging time.

JBL Boombox 2 - Technical Overview

JBL Boombox 3 and Boombox 2 have a design and construction quality that is comparable to each other. These are medium-sized, horizontally-positioned portable speakers. With a plastic top handle and a grip pad on top, you can hold it with one hand and carry it with ease. In terms of build quality, these speakers are up there. The speaker is encased in a cloth that is attached to a plastic base. Aside from a play/pause button and a volume button, the top of the loudspeaker has only mediocre controls, including a Partyboost button and a Bluetooth connectivity button. The speaker’s battery life and Bluetooth status may be seen via the LEDs at the bottom. There are no RGB lights included.

The other standout feature of the JBL Boombox 2 is its powerful, deep bass. Its dual 4-inch woofers deliver monstrous bass that you can feel, making it the perfect speaker for dance parties and other events where the bass is key. Whether you’re listening to hip-hop, electronic dance music, or any other genre that relies on deep, powerful bass, the Boombox 2 is sure to impress with its rich, immersive sound. PartyBoost allows you to link multiple JBL PartyBoost-compatible speakers to pump up the party. Power up with the built-in power bank In terms of looks, the Boombox 2 is very similar to the original and, for me at least, that’s a good thing. Its cylindrical shape is a departure from the angular boomboxes of yesteryear, with the curvature giving it a more contemporary feel while also making it less awkward to carry. The only real aesthetic changes from the first Boombox are new designs on the exposed passive bass radiators and a redesigned battery indicator. La forme de l'enceinte peut déranger et prendre de la place selon l'utilisation bien-sûr ( meilleur en extérieur que en intérieur au vu de sa forme )Dance parties thrive on bass, so let your friends feel it. JBL Boombox 2 pumps out powerful, deep bass just like your favorite JBL-powered club. Keep the party going with up to 24 hours of playtime Using a different Bluetooth transmitter means JBL had to cut loose some of the original Boombox’s compatibility. That model had a button called Connect+ that paired with other JBL speakers to play the same music simultaneously — or in stereo as left and right channels. It’s gone now, and so is any connection with the Connect+ app, putting the Boombox 2 into a different ecosystem of connectivity. It’s easy to see how similar the Boombox 3 and Boombox 2 are in design. You’ll have a hard time deciding between them since they have more similarities than differences. A superior sound system is found in the JBL Boombox 3, which offers the ability to switch between two different sound systems, while the Boombox 2 still boasts deep bass. It’s better to use them outside than inside. It is possible to activate the Partyboost function on both of the Boombox devices. The Boombox 3 has an IP67 certification, which is higher than the IPX7 rating of the Boombox. The only thing was, we didn’t really find this speaker to sound all that different from its predecessor. We played music on it relentlessly for weeks indoors and out, and while it wasn’t with a large group due to Covid-related restrictions, we recognized the familiarity throughout.
