About this deal

The CT-S1RD is a portable keyboard that delivers incredible sound quality, style, and simplicity. Whether you need an affordable first 61 key keyboard, a portable piano for practice or performance, or an always-ready songwriting partner, the CT-S1RD goes beyond your expectations and redefines what a portable keyboard should be.

Small Size, Huge Sound

The only sound I wish it had that seems 'obvious' but doesn't really have is a good classic soft brass synth sound. It pretty much nails the in-your-face saw wave with a very nice Oberheim sound (Jump, its the classic Jump sound).

It’s the same story with the vintage keyboards, organs, synths, strings and other sounds - you even get some classics from Casio’s older VL-Tone, CT, CZ and VZ synths. So far Jesse has managed to record four albums, but that’s just a start! He’s still in the prime of his career, and it would seem as though nothing is slowing him down. The only negative I found is that the keys felt thin (as in thin plastic) on the white keys at first touch. As my first impression I assumed the playability would be a miss, but in fact I've found the keybed very satisfying despite the impression of it feeling like thinner than usual plastic. Bare in mind that my primary keyboard is a Yamaha Montage 6, which has great action but also feels like it's built to withstand a bomb blast. I'm speculating that Casio wanted to keep the weight down, and thankfully it didn't adversely affect the feel while playing. It should be said, though, that if you just want to do the basics - ie, sit down and play - the CT-S1 is about as easy to use as you could hope for.

We’re not going to run you through every tone that’s included, but we’re happy to report that Casio’s AiX sound engine really delivers the goods, providing pretty much everything you need and very little of what you don’t. En definitiva, Este NO es un teclado profesional, es un teclado que SUENA como los profesionales. Si crees que encajas en el perfil descrito, deja de pensarlo. No te vas a arrepentir.I formerly owned a Yamaha NP-12, which I wanted as a travel piano. I never found myself satisfied with that keybed and eventually sold it. Comparing the two I would definitely recommend the Casio. The Casio doesn't feel like it's trying to fool you into thinking it's a weighted-key piano, and instead works to create a nuanced, responsive experience from a semi-weighted feel. It also far exceeds the sample quality and speaker quality of the NP-12.
