About this deal

In my initial playtest with the Specter, I concluded that they didn’t seem like as much of a threat as we initially thought. I think I was wrong. I’m going to get into some more playtesting later, but this new piece of information is a bit of a game changer I think. Dread Wraith The game's core mechanics revolve around a modular game board and meticulously designed miniatures, bringing the world of HeroQuest: Rise of the Dead Moon to life. Players will move their heroes across the board, exploring new areas, solving puzzles, and engaging in tactical combat against the forces of darkness. Update 6/20/23: Re-upload of HQF latest video covering the flood of new photos from Zavvi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQHUHknJE4U As with every quest book, we start off with a message from Mentor. We are told that not everything is as it seems in the Elven kingdom of Elethorn. From the outside, all would seem well. The Princess has been saved, there are festivities going on in celebration of this. It would seem that the conflict has ended. Frustrated, the Heroes have no choice but to follow the Wraith. The Wraith casts Dreadlights on the Guardian Knight, then flees again.

The dramatic story of treachery and unrest in the elven kingdom continues in this HeroQuest Rise of the Dread Moon expansion! As a brave knight, you're challenged to finally free Elethorn from the clutches of Zargorn. Embark on dangerous quests, as you seek the aid of the Cadre of the Raven's Veil to help stop Zargorn's forces of Dread from destroying the kingdom. Navigate through a dark labyrinth of waterways, an underground city, and more perilous locations. But be wary-for Zargon's forces grow ever stronger with the rise of the Dread Moon! Immerse yourself in the adventure with 10 daring quests, stunning artwork, 29 detailed miniatures, and full-color tiles. (Requires HeroQuest Game System to play. Sold separately.) This fantasy game for adults and teens has limitless replayability, and you can also create your own quests and stories. Gather friends together for an exciting night of tabletop gameplay in a battle of good and evil. The game is for 2-5 players, ages 14+. Includes10 ThrillingQuests: The Rise of Dread Moon expansion features 10 quests, as well as full-color tiles and 58 game cards, set in an elven world of monsters, traps, treasure, and Dread Moon spells Crafting can only happen at specific times. In between quests, or in the presence of an Alchemist’s Bench. This is interesting, now furniture finally has a purpose other than just sitting there, looking pretty. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks pretty, but it’s nice to have some interaction now. Rise of the Dread Moon adds new gameplay elements to the base HeroQuest set. This includes 29 miniatures, such as the Magus Guard shown here. The Quest Book states that “Heroes do not have routine access to shops”. This implies that instead of shopping between quests, the Heroes must wait until they enter a Hideout to shop.Originally published by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop (of Warhammer 40K fame), the original HeroQuest debuted in 1989. In that first game, players took on the roles of the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard to explore the dungeon of the former apprentice of Mentor named Zargon (or Morcar in the UK). in 2020, Hasbro and Avalon Hill announced they would be reprinting the board game Heroquest. This return of the 1989 tabletop classic did have some bumps, including the Heroquest TTRPG being delisted, but it was released in December 2021 to a warm fan reception. If it is based on Dark Company I would expect them to follow suit from the Frozen Horror's practice of having all in one sculpts of the mercs (rather than having detachable weapons), so the total minis would probably be 24 to account for all the variants IF that's what this is. Side A: 8 Lunar tokens (front), 6 caltrops, 2 trap doors, 4 disguises, 2 mirrors, 4 mercenaries, 1 elf assassin, 1x "5" reputation token, 6 "shield" reputation tokens (front), 1 "plaza" tile (5x6 room) Who could this new hero be? The speculation has begun. The consensus that I think most have agreed on so far, is that this is an alternate version of the Guardian Knight that was previously released in limited quantity.

Maybe this encounter want as difficult as I had initially thought after the first round. I’ll need to try it out a few more times and with different configurations of enemies. The Barbarian immediately engages the Magus Guard and manages to get 2 hits on them. The Guardian Knight also engages the Magus Guard, but misses. The Elf decides to stay where she is to protect the Wizard, she casts Sleep on the Assassin closest to her. The Wizard, following the Elf’s instructions to stay put, doesn’t move. The Avalon Hill post gives us some information about a new monster we will encounter in Rise of the Dread Moon. The Specter! (See monster card below) Thinking that the Wizard is an easy target, the Wraith glides through the bookcase and engages the Wizard. Once again the Wizard is down! This time, with no healing spells left, he breathes his last breath. Another mystery, the new HeroQuest expansion’s name. It was conveniently cut off so we can’t see what it’s called. The dramatic story of treachery and unrest in the elven kingdom continues in this HeroQuest Rise of the Dread Moon expansion! The new furniture is interesting, two statue type items, and something that appears difficult to identify. It almost looks like another tomb, I guess it could be, but it could also be something else. The image isn’t quite clear enough to make out exactly what it is. Knight (same as Hero Collection Guardian Knight) * so right now you can play as him in the Companion App even before the update! The Wraith screeches and casts Summon Specters bringing 1 new monster into the battle. The Spell effect doesn’t say where to place the Specter, so I’ll place it as close to the Wraith as possible. The Wraith then retreats THROUGH the Heroes, maintaining line of sight. The new Specter moves into position, where the Wraith was between the Cultists and casts Channel Dread at the Barbarian. The two adjacent Cultists also know this spell, so that adds 2 to the result of 6, totaling 8. The Barbarian takes 2 damage. Each Cultists also casts Channel Dread at the Barbarian, with +1 each. The first rolled a 1, but the second rolled 5. With the +1, the Barbarian takes another 2 damage. The Cultists have exhausted their Channel Dread spells though. Thinking that they can bolster the Specter’s Dread, the Cultists choose to remain at its side.
