This perfume is the closest I'll ever get to having a Orange Poppy Seed cake with orange icing - without the delicious dessert being in my gluttonous fists! This one is very strongly citrus (and I get some red fruit, which isn’t mentioned in the scent pyramid) in the initial spray. It’s fruity, like freshly peeled oranges being crushed, and the scent wafting up to you. There’s also some white floral in there. When the oranges vanish, Hidden Fantasy dries down to a soft vanilla musk scent, which reminds me more of scented plastic toys then of cake or anything Christmas-like. That‘s not neccessarily a bad thing in my book, but not what I wanted and also very faint and not executed that well here. There are still absolutely no spicy notes to my nose. Longevity is fairly decent, if not remarkable. Sillage, like all the Britney perfumes, is in-your-face and pretty intense. You get a big bottle for your money, and I think this particular red bottle is very attractive. However, my bottle seems to have a leaky spray, and this stuff stains fabrics and wood red, so be wary of getting it all over the place! If you’re wearing white and you spray this near it, you’ll have red spots on your clothes all day!

Cos it's Christmas now i've been spraying my jumpers with it and it doesn't even last on those. Dunno but i always associate Orange scents with Christmas. I'm wearing this now because all i get is straight up ORANGE! ...It has a nice slight and very light sweetness to it but that's about it. I can't smell anything else but maybe orange peel, tangerine, orange juice, a few refresher sweets thrown in, and a lil bit of washing up liquid. It smells like all them put together LOL.It's a light scent, not heavy at all and once the orangey notes calm down it does turn sweet, like the sweets you eat which reminds me of katy perry's Revolution. I don’t get any “festive” or fall vibes but this is rather pleasant and I can see myself wearing this often and not getting tired of it. The performance makes this pretty much pointless. I disappears within about 10 minutes. I get long enough to think "Oh, this is pretty", then it's pretty much gone. There is never any sillage, even within minutes of application, I have to touch my nose to my skin to smell it. I can't smell it at all within 10-15 minutes. I even tried seriously overspraying it to see if it would help. Even after 30 sprays (4-6 sprays is my usual) I still can't smell it on skin or clothes. I own several other "Britneys", all of which I enjoy, but my favorite is Believe, a real oddball amongst the rest. Now, Hidden Fantasy and Believe have nothing in common except an airy freshness (citrus here & linden in Believe's original formulation), but that airy freshness makes all the difference to me. HIDDEN FANTASY opens with citrusy fruits, its more tangy then sweet on me. Things start to get interesting as the middle notes develop on my skin, as the Neapolitan cake accords develop and give everything a slightly chocolatey cake batter undertone, but the clove note develops on first application and prevents the cake accord from being strong and sweet. The starring powdered white floral notes seem to be spiced to me, as the clove mixes well with them.

I am re-writing my review of Hidden Fantasy as I feel that my previous review, (written almost a decade ago), does not reflect my current opinions regarding this often underrated Britney Spears fragrance. Hidden fantasy isn't my most favorite britney perfume but I like it and I'm glad to have a 3.3oz it's something I'll use when I'm in it's mood but one can use it in daily basis too.I usually wear it when I go for a walk in nearby park with my man evenings or late at night or when we're having a nice family night at home watching movies and eating home made cake and a cup of tea Ooh baby, this is delicious. First spritz- blast of warm juicy oranges, it eases into a sweetness that I can't quite describe, but I'm intoxicated by it. There is a warmness to this, which is appealing- especially, since this is citrus... there is a light brightness to the warmth... sweet and sour, a sparkling aura of delight... I've never smelled anything like this. Now, the dessert comes. That wow- holy mother of god, cake- oh, I've got to have that cake. But no, it smells way too good to eat. I don't want it to go away... Spice peaking through... It's only been a few minutes, so I'll return... :) One thing I find a bit strange though is the spray nozzle is a flat plastic red, which I thought it would be metallic like the others. I think in recent years they may have kept the liquid but cheaped out on the quality of the bottles to sell at a lower price point. Just my observation.I had bought a smaller bottle of Hidden Fantasy years ago. Needless to say the juice in that bottle has been long gone. So I was curious about retrying this particular perfume and ended up receiving a bottle for my birthday. It's truly a very pleasant smelling perfume. I can see where people would say and think it'd be the perfect perfume to wear around Christmas time. I think the image I have for this perfume is picturing somebody wanting to make their house smell lovely and they dump all the notes into a pot on top of their stove so you can smell it all throughout the house. It's a cozy image and it's how I feel when I spray the perfume on. It just makes me feel cozy.

This dries down in to a muskiness, a certain warmth, something like cloves and pepper, whilst retaining that very strong orange top note. It’s not a bright red, plummy, juicy fruity, it’s a musky, citrus fruity. I had no reason to be afraid. I hardly smell any clove and if I do it isn’t enough to deter me. A reviewer much further down mentioned that it smells similar to VivaLaJuicy Gold. I do see the resemblance but much much weaker, no caramel. Believe it or not, there are actually some celebrity perfumes that do not smell overly-sweet, overly-flowery, generic, pungent and cheap! Generally speaking, I am not a fan of most celebrity fragrances. Most of them smell low quality to my nose. When I find one that I like, it's great because they can usually be found for very reasonable prices. Designer scents tend to garner a much higher price point than their celeb counterparts. The first thing that caught me by surprise was the stingy alcohol scent along with a bitterness, but it goes away within seconds. The citrus really only lasts a couple of minutes as well. It's definitely sweet, cake-like. I've read about an unlisted note of Neapolitan cake, which makes sense because it has this vanilla chocolate quality to it.Anyway, I LOVE this one and am glad to have it, but still, it's not my favorite. It opens fresh and clean, like a 'just got out of the shower' feeling, and then there's a light orange-spice feeling that comes in. I wasn't sure what 'napolitano cake' was but when I smelled this, I immediately recognized that soft, spongy homemade cake aroma. Part-vanilla extract, part Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, eggs, milk, flour, orange zest... (Well, okay, real napolitano cake is a vanilla layer, a chocolate layer, and a strawberry layer but I'm only getting a very light and faint strawberry scent here so let's just pretend it's an orange-spice layer instead...) Apparenty, Hidden Fantasy has become hard to find now, which is a shame. Imagine my delight when I spotted a big bottlle of it on the clearance shelf at my local drugstore. The sign said all the discounted bottles were 19.99 but when I was cashed out, it was further reduced to 14.99, score! I love this, it is dark, mature, creamy, sweet, spicy and lovely. It is officially one of my favorites I may never take it off. It suits all occasions day or nightwear and in my opinion can work as a signature scent. It's a lot less sweet than the rest of the fantasy collection, more grown up and more polished which i appreciate since I do believe there is such a thing as overdosing on sweetness (yes i'm talking about you Heat Ultimate Elixer - don't get me wrong I do love sweet scents but I don't think that they're appropriate for everyday usage that's all). Overall assessment: Hidden fantasy, is wonderful, warm, inviting, yet invigorating and truly one of if not THE best Britney Fragrance. It is everything I hoped it would be and more and I think i may be slightly addicted. And the boyfriend absolutely loves it - it's been 2 days now and i can't seem 2 get his nose away from my spray points (not that i'm complaining lol so THAT is a definite plus). Love at frist sniff and highly recommended.
