Hisense TVs have all the tech they need to succeed, but top-tier features doesn't always add up to a top TV. A brand needs the know-how and skill to make the most of them. Display types The Hisense’s Ultra Smooth Motion feature is improved, mirroring the gains found in the step-down 65U7QFTUK. It won’t bother class-leaders Sony and Panasonic, but it is done with greater confidence. Streaming Everton vs Manchester City on Prime Video, while an element of judder remains, it’s watchable. There’s little difference between the Smooth, Standard and Clear options, and I’m not sure what the Film option achieves since all it does is add stutter. The lower average score of Hisense TVs just means your pool of models worth buying is smaller, but that doesn't mean there are none worth your money. If the brand you buy is important to you, our best advice is to spend some time writing up your own list of ideal brands. That way when you come to the point where you’re comparing product options you can filter to only show the products from brands in your list.

There’s none of the headline features here, so if a brand-new console is of interest then the Hisense is not optimised for it. when sat head on, the image performance is very good and on a par with some much more expensive peers. High-end Hisense TVs support HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, while its top-of-the-range OLED sets have HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ too. This puts them right in the mix with the household name TV brands.

Sound Performance

The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Televisions category, of which we found 187 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. Let’s start with what’s good. The bezel is discreet enough to not intrude on the TV viewing experience, and the depth of the set is just 78mm without the stand, making it appreciatively slim in appearance. HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ are more advanced. They can adjust contrast to suit each scene. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ can also react to the ambient light in your room. As a big-screen fitting for sports and movies, it also starts at a slightly cheaper asking price than the U7QF model it replaces. But does the more affordable price suggest the A7G is a downgrade on what came before? Design Where to start with this larger model? Build quality is just as solid as the 55-inch set, the bezel is slim enough to have minimal impact on the screen, and the V-shaped pedestal has a bigger footprint – even more so at this size.

Televisions that cost less than the popular competition have made Hisense the fifth most popular TV brand in the UK. But low prices will only get you so far and, in previous years, Hisense's seat at the table has been more like the folding chair you drag out of the spare room when you have guests than the padded luxury enjoyed by some of its rivals. As you can imagine, pricing is one of the most important factors of any purchasing decision. We can find the perfect product for our needs, that fits the brief in every single way. But if it doesn’t fit our budgets, we simply can’t (or at least shouldn’t) buy it. The A7G is also a QLED TV with Quantum Dot technology built into the panel to give purer looking colours, although it doesn’t quite reach the full width of the DCI-P3 colour gamut for HDR, instead Hisense states 90% coverage. Other features include an AI picture processor for upscaling, and Dolby Atmos support for immersive audio is also built-in though the TV obviously only has two speakers. When I reviewed the 55U8QFT it had a few issues, several of which have been ironed out since launch. However, the bigger screen highlights some remaining niggles and shines a light on some that I hadn’t spotted before. Hisense has been making inroads in the UK market with its affordable and feature laden TVs over the past few years, and its latest range is its most ambitious set.Problems still persist. The scene in Skyfall (Dolby Vision Bright) where Bond is served a martini at the Macau gambling palace features smearing, but at least it’s better controlled (just). Animation can suffer too, as an episode of The Simpsons eluded the Hisense’s grip. Which leads me to the one egregious aspect of the A7G’s design. The stand is just too big. If you have an area (or whatever furniture you’re using) big enough to accommodate both the A7G and a soundbar – and you will want to partner this TV with a soundbar – then it’s fine. If you don’t, the stand causes some unnecessary faffing about to make space. Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Televisions category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget. The video processing in the Hisense U7QF is powered by the Hi-View Engine which helps with motion and scaling of images. We found the upscaling to be good with only the odd instance of ringing around fine lines in some test patterns, but this was not visible in the vast majority of HD content we viewed.

Despite that, the opening ten minutes of 1917 (Dolby Vision) shows solid motion stability as Schofield and Blake make their way through the trenches. The only noticeable effect is some blurry edge definition as a group of soldiers walk by. The same can be said for the shaky-camera races in Days of Thunder (Dolby Vision). The U7Q is more confident in this aspect than it was pre-update. That’s evident in the VIDAA U 4.0 smart portal, which is about as plain and simple a smart TV interface as you can find. All the main apps are covered, with Netflix occupying prime spot and followed by the likes of Prime Video, YouTube, Rakuten TV, BritBox as well as the various UK catch-up and on-demand apps with its Freeview Play integration. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. Hisense's prices are lower and its average score is lower, but averages don't always tell the whole story. We’re told these features are in “the early stages of development”, but for now it’s probably better to give them a wide berth.

Video Review

Although it’s not mentioned in the specs, streaming via Chromecast is an option. Alexa is available through the Remote Now app (iOS and Android), and it’s happy to ‘work with’ Google Assistant via external speakers. The U7Q doesn’t have a glut of smart features, but it serves anyone after the fundamentals. Dolby Atmos® puts you inside the action with bigger, more encompassing sound that fills your room - even overhead - to immerse you in your entertainment. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases.
