After Nora drops Sophie off at school, she hurries to her office at Manhattan's St. Andrew's Plaza.....

Both a fascinating procedural and a courtroom drama, there is much to like about this novel, and how it rings with authenticity." Manila Bulletin How could I resist reading a debut crime novel written by the former Director of the FBI, James Comey? And it turns out the story is quite good! With courtroom drama and the mob, how could it not be? real world jet off to private sex islands. Justices of the Supreme Court hobnob at the Bohemian Grove with weird billionaires who collect Nazi memorabilia theA nonstop thrill ride! Central Park West is a masterful blend of legal thriller, police procedural and psychological drama. And it’s populated with some of the best heroes and most evil villains to come along in years. Bravo!” Desperate to stop the mobster walking free, Nora investigates the darker side of the city to find out how everything connects. The more she uncovers, the deeper the corruption runs. And Nora knows better than most that the truth is a fragile thing – especially in court. COMEY: Oh, he can. And I think at least the accounts that I've read of the civil trial involving E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump show that he can. But a jury was selected in that case that included one person in particular, as I call, who was a regular follower of right-wing media on radio and a lot of people who hadn't followed the news. Yes, he can get a fair trial. Now, of course, he'll take a flamethrower to it. KELLY: Jim Comey, while I've got you, I'm going to throw you a question on a real-life case unfolding in a Manhattan courtroom to deal with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. These are charges to which Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty. With your former prosecutor's cap on, what do you make of how this has unfolded so far? Hard to believe Central Park West is a first novel. It reeks of authenticity and the plot goes like a train. The courtroom scenes are tense and the cast of characters vivid and compelling. This is the sort of debut publishers dream of.”

Let’s welcome James Comey to the group of crime novelists who really know what goes on behind the scenes — his knowledgeable descriptions in this debut novel assure you that he has insider knowledge about the way federal attorneys and FBI agents really work (not as lone wolves with secret past personal histories driving them forward). My only con is that it became overly wordy and drawn out about half or 3/4 of the way through the book. Too much info and redundancy. However, the intelligence of the author and his sophistication of today's world of crime and legalities make this novel a big yes.You wrote in your memoir, A Higher Loyalty , of your immediate sense that President Trump shared characteristics with some of those mafia mob bosses you had prosecuted. In particular in the demand for loyalty above truth… Kudos, Mr. Comey, for a great debut piece of fiction. I am eager to see where things go and how you will impress readers with your next published work. COMEY: Yeah. It's not a hobby for me. I need to have a job. And I found this harder than nonfiction but a lot more fun. And it would be wonderful if I could do this until I'm old and foolish, so I've already written the sequel.

Ian Rankin, internationally bestselling author of A Heart Full of Headstonesand the John Rebus series Comey] certainly knows the world he’s writing about, but readers might be surprised by his skills as a novelist. This isn’t one of those books that's ‘pretty good for a guy who isn’t a real writer.’ It's very well executed: the characters are richly detailed, the dialogue is impressively realistic, and the plot is genuinely suspenseful…. Readers who deign to take a look only for the Comey name are likely to be surprised—in a good way." Booklist as president, or years as secretary of state or director of the FBI, the tales they produce are the same The story contains plenty of authentic details and an array of colourful and scary characters that I could almost envision. This would actually make for a great TV adaptation. At times a little ‘wordy’, it was easy to forgive for the entertainment factor and twists kept me invested right up the exciting ending.

Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District Nora Carleton is currently prosecuting a case against Dominic D’Amico of the Gambino Mafia Family. When D’Amico passes Nora a note about Tony Burke’s death and mob involvement, Nora asks for protection for D’Amico. The court refuses. D’Amico meets an untimely end. A sturdy crime fiction debut … Comey draws on his vast experience in the criminal justice world to bring a sense of authenticity to the setting and plot machinations.”
