The battery life is the star of the show here; they’ll last you as long as you need them to. The audio is also more than adequate but tuned more towards the lows, some might find them a little aggressive. The included carry case is nice, and the fact that they fold up is even nicer. At this moment in time, the list covers over-ears, on-ears and true wireless to appeal a variety of users. This is only the beginning as we’ll be adding more entries if they are deserving of it. Build quality is decent even though the headphones’ frame and earcups have been made from recycled plastic, with no noticeable creaks or groans when we bent the frame. The use of plastic also keeps the headphones lightweight at 192g. We didn’t experience periods of discomfort wearing the headphones, thanks to the use of padding on the headband and earcups.

My library mainly consists of Japanese music, so if you’re a fan of them like me, then we might have the same taste. I also listen to various genre like hiphop, rap, orchestra etc. but not that often compared to the Japanese ones. Sub bass rumble can definitely be felt, also the mid bass thump is pretty much very present but not to the point where it’s distracting Other than that, and the HP151’s long, snakelike cable that limits use to the home, this is an excellent pair of headphones. As it’s a removable cable, you can change it, but I’d still have preferred an alternative cable to be provided in the box. The noise-cancellation is solid at this price, focusing on culling low frequency sounds and clearing away ambient noise so it’s less of a bother. We wouldn’t say that these headphones clear away every noise they come across, but they’ll make the daily commutes and journeys around cities like London feel less chaotic and disruptive.

There’s very little to dislike about the SoundMagic HP151; they provide sensational sound quality for the money

With 10 minute charge you get 5 hours playtime through the 400mAh large capacity lithium battery and continuous play of 54-60 hours on full charge. A staggering 50 days standby time means you don't need to ever worry about being caught out with an empty battery. The SoundMagic P23BT are very lightweight to the point that they feel pretty flimsy. They have a foldable design so that they easily bend together to fit into your bag when you're not using them. The ear cups are made from memory foam so while - to the touch - they don't feel premium, they feel good on your ears and the lightweight design ensures that they never feel cumbersome. The P23BT don’t refashion the on-ear headphone experience but they work well enough in practice and are less inconvenient than some on-ears have been. Features

The head band is made of rubber and is very comfortable (looking at T10, which hurts my head like crazy after a few minutes.). P23BT is also lightweight and is very comfortable to wear, it feels like I am wearing nothing at all, and what amazes me is it does not have that suffocating feel (unlike KZ T10). The P23BT is not the most refined listen but it is not supposed to be and although there is some grain to the sound it is not too much as to spoil the otherwise excellent performance. In 2021 they released the SoundMagic P23BT on-ears, but they appeared to have gone under the radar. It would be a mistake to consider these headphones a busted flush, as they show that SoundMagic hasn’t lost any of the qualities that made the brand a reliable budget buy. DesignIt’s been a while since we last heard from SoundMagic. Years ago, they were the brand to seek out for affordable wired and wireless headphones, but after releasing their first true wireless, things went a little quiet. The top end of the frequency range is well communicated with good brightness, clarity and sharpness. The piano that opens Joe Hisaishi’s Innocent from Castle in the Sky tonally sounds very nice, with distinct variation between the different keys being pressed that ensures the SoundMagic isn’t just a one-note player. It adds colour to the P23BT’s overall performance. Soundstage feels pretty much in your head, boxy kind of feeling, however, instruments separation is good as instruments can be pinpointed easily Most of the entry level Bluetooth headphones I have reviewed so far featured a consumer friendly "V" shaped tuning with the only exception being the Sennheiser HD250BT.

I was also surprised by the isolation here. With the volume on an almost unbearable 50%, there is only a faint sound coming from these when off the head at just 1-foot away. With them on the head, it’s even less. Perfect for those starting to commute again. Focusing on the sound quality itself, I’d say the asking price is a steal considering the sound itself is really good. However, the only let down I’d say is the build quality, which to me feels rather filmsy, but that’s understandable, possibly to drive the cost down. The P23BT are not masters of soundstaging, but that’s ok, they are on-ears and have quite a direct presentation but instruments are still easy to place within the limited soundstage. What is unexpectedly good for such a budget on-ear headphone is the clarity and the level of separation inside the soundstage which although it is boxy and limited between the ears, nonetheless sounds airy and not congested, making the P23BT suitable for listening to large scale symphonic works and gaming.
